Wings

Post by Drathorin »

Well the wings would grow faster than you think. And considering how large they would have to be to give sufficent lift. She'd need them since she probably weighs. . . 65-90 pounds by that point right?

Is the flashback part of the story or still sketchbook highlights?

Well, I suspected the wings to be quite small while she's soo young. Considering that arms and legs start to grow up to their full potential at around puberty. As, or even more important for flight is a well developed set of chest and shoulder muscles, also typically developing at around puberty.
Looking the way she is I now suspect she could fly before she could run. Must have been a hell of a time for her parents ^_^

Question of the day: did Hazel achieve flight on her own, or did Image lend a hand?

Love today's ...

I don't know if Hazel had help or not, but from the look of today's comic we'll find out soon enough.

Speaking of today's coming, I really love the lighting and shading in it! Awesome. :D

That look of suicidal determination really puts me on the edge of my seat. I can't wait for the next comic!

She's not suicidially determined. . .she's just in a 'do or die' situation ^^

What sends shivers down my spine is that I one did the same thing when I was a kid. Klimbing high up into a tree while crying from fear and hurt.

If she jumps and cannot fly she can still use her wings to 'glide/fall-slowly', she won't die unless she folds her wings. But she doesn't relaise that as she sits there.

Of course a flash back means she must have survived. Both the fall and the wolves.

In a sense this whole flashback episode goes deeper than the main story. It is emotionally much stronger. Or maybe it's just me. I see myself in it completely.

Your right about that. It seems to be full of emotion and experience. Hits a lot more than the normal stuff doesnt' it?

It hits deeper. The normal comic is all about fantasy and real life stuff, things we can relate to and think about. The flashback peells back the outer cognitive layer exposing and confronting us on the emotional level.
But than most older memories (which is what a flash back is all about) are all about real emotions.

Without the flashback Hasel was just a character from a commic. Now she has become a real person. The wall between the fantasy and reality has been broken here.
