Forget about the bug for now, just add 15 to the 'start=60' at the top if you suspect there is another page.

Talking about weather, cold days are better than hot ones, because it's easier to warm yourself up than cool off...

...and what happened to that quiz?

Since it's getting a bit slow around here, let's have some fun with fantasy! If you had the power to create your own world, with the optional choice of living in it yourself, what would it be like?

Mine would include many different locations, but perhaps my favorite part of it would be a forest with high rainfall. There'd be a village of (don't laugh) lizard-people in the middle, and they'd have mud-skating contests down hills (kinda like snowboarding, with mud instead).

I already have a world in my head! hehehe and it has many different land types, Kinda like canada but not as cold! And I romp around it alot, and yes teh mud sliding is fun, especially when it just rains so it's nice and slick. Just watch those trees. They usually sting a lot when you slam into them. Hehehe

A lot of different races live there. And a few I know I havent' found yet. I'm saving those for my webcomic I want to start! ^_^ If I can draw lol. I won't bother to say too much more because it has a lot in common with different fantasy worlds. like TWOC, some of the westlands, and LOTF(Legend Of the Four) But a few things have my own twist to them. Though it sometimes makes you wonder if a lot of the fantasy dreamers live in one world but think it's there own. That'd explain some stuff hehe.

Well, my place has some things in common with the Zelda series, but not enough to break copyright laws and such. I can see the whole map in my head - there's a big city in the north, called Megalopolis; a desert with a temple and cat-people guardians to the northeast; a tall mountain to the east; a shadow-shrouded, fog engulfed valley to the southeast; the rain drenched forest I described before to the south; rocky cliffs to the west (with probably some rock beasts, I haven't decided yet); an ocean bay to the northwest, with a quaint seaside fishing village; and last but not least, a grassy plain right in the center (to be filled with other populous later...).

The best part of mud sliding is the big kersplash at the bottom where the water collects after the rain... :D

My own little world...

Post by Jaeren »

My tastes are so varied, my fantasy world would pretty much have a little bit of everything.

Elves, dwarves, dragons, giant transforming mecha, faster than light ships, underwater cities, sentient andriods, floating cloud cities, and really great coffee.

lol at Drath.

Yes, there's nothing like a good cup of coffee. There also nothing like a bad cup. >_< Bleh.

Both of you have obviously put a lot more thought into your fantasy realms than I have. Maybe I can visit for a mud-slide sometime?

Drathorin, your idea for a web comic sounds pretty good so far. Are you thinking signing up once keenspace is taking apps again?

I almost forgot something last time! Mine has also got an underwater city! There's going to be a submarine version of the Titanic too, to get from the bay village to the city. There's also an island city as well, to make a trinity of places for the Titanic to visit...

...but enough from me, what do you think about my fantasy realm?

I like coffee with many, many bags of sugar. :D

You didn't say anything about it, but now that you've let it slip, please do tell.

I don't have enough with one world. I want a whole galaxy. Oh, well, just a few very different planets with different species, each perfectly adapted to their own and a bit out of their way on the others. With highly technical but unreliable (Windows?) time~space portals between them.
Elves and men and dwarves and ... actually evolved from the same basic 'humans' that set up the portals.

Oh, and there are dragons.

Drathorin, this is where you mentioned your idea for a webcomic. I'm not sure what you mean by the westlands, but a combination of TWOC and LOTF sounds pretty interesting. Granted, now that I'm more awake than I was last night, I realize that my interpretation of how these would go together may be totally different than when you intend. So, like Jika said, you havn't really said anything...just my decaffinated mind making assumptions and going off on tangents.

Not any more than that anyone wants unreliable computer programs. ....

The basic presumptoion is that in a long past industrial age the original 'humans' settled all the planets and did set up the portals. Of course now hardly anyone knows how to maintain and repair them. And there is a bug somewhere that makes it difficult to set both time and place. So either you know where your going but not sure when, or you know exactly when your going but not where. That means travel is almost always one-way only (step out of a portal, step in again and you don't get beck to your starting point/time).
Fun guaranteed.

Sort off. Just imagine an SG-1 'gate' but without all the dramatic SF-film effects. The portals are essential to the story but not as prominent or flashy. (although on one world a religion has come up worshipping their portal) And the endpoint is not fixed. In SG-1 you can only go from gate to gate. In my univers you need a single portal and put the target point anywhere or when you like. At the target the portal will remain open for a very limited time only.
Ryunaker wrote:Hey! Unreliable portals would actually make travel more....interesting. >: )
Yeah. but they are not too bad. I mean when you set a year for date and a country for place you will (most likely) arrive somewhere in that country in the selected year. It only gets tricky if you want an exact date or place. Like going for 1730, Christmass eve at 19h15. You'll get there at that exact time but it could be anywhere on the planet. Or try to get at the 5 seat in the second row of the Sydney Opera house. You'll get there but it could be 1836 (before the opera is build) that you arrive there. Which would be very interesting indeed ^_^

You mean the one that states that you can know where an electron is, or its vector of travel (if I remember right), but not both?

Yep, that one. But it doesn't apply to electrons only.

Sounds like a nastier version of the gate from Sliders actually<G>

and yeah its subatomic particles I think. if I remember right it's you can know it's position or it's velocity but not both.

I remembers seeing this somewhere. I had to get rid of my Heisenbergmobile. It ran great and got fantastic mileage, but everytime I check the speedometer I'd end up lost.

Eek! It's like you've all read my mind! My world's got a stargate-like stone gateway, which I call the Destiny Gate. Usually the whole thing is stuck on autopilot, and only takes you to where destiny wants you to go... (hence the name ^_^)
svenson wrote:I don't have enough with one world. I want a whole galaxy.
Silly svenson, a world is a whole universe! It could be the size of one solitary room, or as big as our own ever-expanding world! The only difference is that the edges are a lot closer together.
