Dany tricky Elf, and now looks like he has to leave the area. I don't think those humans will want to help him much.
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.

So that tosses the theory that may not be a theif. She's a full-fleged willfull thief. And he lost her again. He's probably close to being out of lux so he can not run after her, after he used his needler (get it?) to create a distraction.

No, he has his backpack, a scabbard wouldn't be that wide.

Yeah, I'm thinkin Quintyn's faking his departure... like when parents PRETEND to walk away but are waiting just around the corner.

Perhaps, but it is usually not a very effective strategy to try and fake out someone who running away from you and happens to be going in the opposite direction.

Looks like he doesn't use very often his sense of smell for tracking, but at least he got his backpack.

It's unclear to me that he's going to quickly give up.

Also look at the second to last panel. You see both the the scabbard strap and the back pack straps....

Judging from the established characteristics of both Quentyn and the weapon he was using, no. But he appears to have caused some pain and probably freaked them out a lot.

I'd say yes. That isn't a toy. The bolts will penetrate flesh, if they didn't the thing wouldn't stop a pigeon. Given his height some of those bolts will wind up going into peoples' intestines and without antibiotics such wounds almost invariably lead to fatal infections.

There's no such thing as a nonlethal weapon.

It's not impossible, but I suspect it's much less likely with that weapon. From what little I understand about how it works, the lux bolts should be sterile, non-toxic, and dissolve away soon after firing.

I don't know if it would even penetrate deeply enough to puncture somebody's intestines. If it did, then they might have a problem. . . But even then you're looking at a small puncture that will soon close, it's nothing like the havoc that an arrowhead or bullet can inflict. The closest comparison with a real-world weapon would probably be a blowgun dart.

Might I suggest looking at the previous comic and noticing how short Quentyn is? It seems pretty obvious to me that given his height and the angle he's holding his pistol at, those darts are going to strike (and this makes me wince!) the groin-al area on the humans.

I dunno about y'all, but the thought of even one of those little lux-darts getting me in the family jewels makes me wanna reach for kevlar boxer shorts...
