Actually, I don't think they've had enough time to realise what Quentyn is.

He's much shorter so they have to look down, where his hat blocks a lot of what they can see, at least when they're so close.

this is not the best first impression he could have had.

though considering the circumstances, rough crowd making a punishment for someone already. I think it'd be hard for him to get a good first impression with these people anyway.

I wonder if that guy is able to chew solids with out hurting himself to much?
either way I was wondering how far would one of them bolts from the
crossbow penetrate?
I think at that range he is currently at it will be quiet lethal to him?

Likely the safety or selector switch. You don't yell "back off" while pulling the trigger.

What annoys me is the attitude of the elf.

I thought Ralph once said the elf shot was only lethal on anything smaller than a small bird...? But with a hundred little needles shooting at you it'd be pretty painful.

He'd need plenty of shot to get any penetration into that guy. He'd better be planning on running again after he fires.

White hair, few teeth, looks like a medieval villiage hedman. At first glance, he's not a very bright one, though, nor one who's likely seen much combat. even toys can hurt when aimed at the right parts and Quentyn's aiming at the very best.

The hedman is in a bit of a bind though because he can't be seen to be backing down to such a little package without a significant loss of prestige. Laughter and amused tolerance at the "kid's threat" might save his baritone voice though and it's 50/50 whether he knows it.
