the usual suspects
ok so it might be a bit out of order for the new guy to make such a large post on his first post on this particular foum but i hope it works
recently i have become obsessed with the mystery of who the rosad diciple might actually be especially if the disciple is someone that has already been introduced
looking through the archives i wrote down where i found any information i thought might be usefull in this (that and it was fun anyway)
2004 oct 27
the brownies started dissappearing about a week ago
2004 dec 1
where it is suggested that someone might have started sending colin bad dreams.
it also talks about his fearlessness and his lack of fear of rats.
2004 dec 8
ever since the millfolk moved into town the brown-outs have been happening.
2004 dec 20
both lady and lord millfolk are opposed to the "professional" opinions
they have been given for the situation.
2005 jan 13
squidge mentioned that the "bad things" first drove out the bogeys
"whom i assume have more lux to them then the brownies do" and then
the brownies.
2005 mar 4
quentyn's own reaction to finding the lab seems to indicate that anyone who
wasn't expecting to find evil underneath the city might just panic. though this
is just speculation.
2005 mar 07
more then one vat of the green stuff was broken but there seemed to be no sign
other then the "other stuff i didn't look close at" that he mentioned
of their inhabitants and that is scary itself.
2005 mar 08
the cage of the rat king appears to have been isolated from the other green vats
inside a room where a convienient energy crystal was situated. suggesting that
someone let it out.
ok now for the suspects
1 the doctor
i suspect the doctor because he put colin in the situation where if the wights had been able to they could chew him up and bring the meat back to the rat king plus rosad was a biomage, something i think is similar to a doctor's profession
2 the guardsman
maybe the council never told him to tell quentyn and emmet to keep it quiet but he knew that if he convinced them to anyway then they wouldn't go to the council to verify weather he had actually been told to do that or not
3 lord millfolk
i don't know why but he is still a suspect
4 lady millfolk
i don't know why but she is still a suspect
5 nessie
i don't know why or how but she is still a suspect
6 kestrel
she has ben living in the city for some time and found the lab and ah... well ok so i don't really have any evidence on her either but she still could have.
7 fen
he wanted to have a new legend to make a song about (he is a bard isn't he?) so he set the rat king loose not knowing how dangerous it could really be
8 one of those hooligans quentyn saw on the street
it's always one of the young and the dangerous ones isn't it
9 master rillcreek
an old wizard who secretly is a disciple of rosad beither
10 quentyn
finding the town boring or at least ignoring him or laughing at him he secretly goes underground and sets up circumstances so that he can be the hero of the town and save everyone in it.
any one i'm forgetting hmmm... how about colin, or maybe the new gargum leader yeah, everyone knows you can't trust tehm farther then you can throw them and considering their size that won't be very far!
ok ok so enough long lists, personally i really thought the doctor did it and i thought that was what quentyn was thinking when he asked for the curtain pull rod thingy. anybody else have a suspect?

Bah, you are not even close. I know who it is.
*Knock Knock*
Hold on someone is at the door, BRB.
*Goes to door and opens it*
"It's you!!!, No! I swear I won't tell them who you are"

Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.

If I remember correctly, one of the vats of green goo appeared to have been broken open by the collapse of a stone arch doorway.

You are correct....and that's the one that contained the rat king. Follow the green trail of Pharoe's amber from that broken tank right to the platform under the crystal.mwalimu wrote:If I remember correctly, one of the vats of green goo appeared to have been broken open by the collapse of a stone arch doorway.
All this leads to is speculation that the rat king was actually released by accident.

Somebody hand me a pull rod.
Good grief, Solidus, can't you go two weeks without ticking someone off?SolidusRaccoon wrote:*various crunchy and squishy sound FX, with lots of screaming*

This may take a while to have any effect. Uh. . .good luck!
At this point, there are way too many suspects, even accepting as a given that we have already met the bad guy (which is by no means certain). I am reminded of this line from The Addams Family movie, when Wednesday and Pugsley are dressed for Halloween:
Woman: "And where's your costume?"
Wednesday Addams: "I'm a homicidal maniac - they look just like everyone else."

When trouble arises and things look bad, there's always one individual who perceives a solution and is willing to take command. Very often, that individual is insane.

Very creepy but true. I am one those who is paronoid of kindly old men who are very helpful and inspirartional. They are always the ones that authors use to make some horribly wrenching ironic plot twist. (I am scared, for instance, that Dumbledore is some double-agent or something. I do have reasons for this, I am not just being totally paranoid. Well, not TOTALLY) Sometimes, they place little hints that could be a hint one way or the other. Or nothing at all. It's spooky (note the twiddling fingers). We'll see what RH has in store.....NEXT TIME ON TALES OF THE QUESTOR, AT THE SAME QUESTOR PAGE, AT THE SAME QUESTING TIME! The rat king may've been released by accident, but it didn't appear out of thin air. Someone's responsable, and everyone's a suspect.
Hmmm, wonder what the state of forensic science is in the Seven Villages.

ok, ok, so most of the list are completely bogus and even i don't think any of them really could have done it (though i still have my eyes on that doctor)
at any rate even with the number of characters we've met so far we can't find anyone that meets villanous criteria (except maybe rahan but he was always more of just a bully anyway)
i wonder how much of a witch hunt it could have turned into if we had met more of the populous in the city though.
still right now i'm just glad anyone even paid attention to the topic.
you're probably right CasVeg i probably should get beat with a rod or something for including quentyn on the list. i was getting carried away and just wanted to see how big i could make the list. i was actually disappointed at how short it was.
oh well, mayeb next time,

Is that on good authority? I assume he is wherever the bard's guild is (or wherever it is young bards go to train). I would guess it's not in Sanctuary, since if it were we probably would have seen him sometime since Quentyn arrived there, particuarly when he and kestrel were running around taking in all the sights.CasVeg wrote:7 Fennel never left Freeman Downs.

The bard's college is not far from the wizard and artifactor college. According to the notes of one Ennias Longscript, you rarely see a group of wizard and artifactor students roaming through Sanctuary without at least one or two bard students tagging along.
Quentyn just has to catch Fen with a few of his new friends from the colleges on a night on the town.
They'll have a good chat. That is, if the other students don't get it in their minds to play a prank on Quentyn.
Guardsmen have been known to retire rather than take guard duty at the colleges...

I'm lost. I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, please ask me to wait. Thanks.
Gee, I wonder why...
I think the release of the Rat King was an accident, and that the 'lab' was probably storage space for...
...useful things.
Quent finding it would put a crimp in someone's plans, and unless that someone is high up in the government of Sanctuary City, then that crimp is probably permanment.

You're all forgetting a couple of things.
For one thing, the laboratory had obviously been abandoned for a long, LONG time. Enough time for the tanks to gather cobwebs and dust. Enough time for the ceiling to start to crumble.
For another, from the looks of all that rubble around the door itself, it may be that the DOOR was originally blocked off with masonry work to hide it...
As to Fennel: as will be revealed in an upcoming side-story, he's been rather busy himself. In face he might actually be in some small danger.
And that's all the info you get

It's like finding out that a really cool game is coming out.... in a year. You want to know everything about the game, and how works, the story etc. But all they tell you are these little tiny tid-bits, just enough that you check everyday to see if the release date has changed.
Not that I've ever done that. Never.
I WANT MORE INFO!!!!!
*sigh*
