27 March 2005 -- Perhaps not the smartest move . . .
While Quentyn may be righteously indignant, it would appear that he neglected to determine what options he had for health care providers. I don't think that Healer Raintree would be inclined to provide any further treatment.
I don't think Quentyn's gonna hurt the Doc......but he's sure gonna humiliate him. And I believe Quentyn DID promise Colin that if there was a "monster" that was scaring him that he'd kick its' tail. While Doc Raintree might not qualify as a monster, he was a BIG influence to Colin's problems.
I furthur think that thrashing Raintree in front of Lady M. for the reasons stated, has just vindicated her earlier heartache as expressed to Lord M. that Q. witnessed unseen by them on the third night while he was down in the kitchen grabbing a snack.

Definitely not the smartest move...
Definitely not the smartest move, but for reasons totally unrelated as to this being the healer who has been treating Quentyn.
Any chance that Quentyn had of being believed has just gone out the door..
He will now be labeled a hysterical lunatic for having (deservedly) torn into the healer. Anything that he says now or in the future that isn't backed up by the authorities (and perhaps even if it is) will be dismissed as hysterical ravings of an unstable individual.
Poor Quentyn just can't get a break.

Oh, I dunno. The four who witnessed it, (including the good Sister, remember?) also heard his explanation of why he was so upset with the fellow. Lady. M agrees with him, we already know that. Lord M will probably understand it, as well. I suspect the nurse-type will, too, that persona is usually a lot more level-headed than the doctors they work with. The only question mark is, who's the new femme, and will she understand common sense when she hears it?

Yeah, I was looking back through the old strips and came to that conclusion, too. I don't know who else it would be - Lord and Lady M. wouldn't be introducing any of their other social contacts to Questor, not at this point.Dalak Lutra wrote: That would be Colin's Grandmother there. I don't recall her being in any of the previous strips but I could be wrong. I think she could probably understand.

Look at how Marta addresses her..."Mother Millfolk".....It's her mother-in-law....Coles Mother!!
Gotta admit tho'....ol' Quenty's building an interesting legacy here......lessee
1..he destroys the rat-king and stops the wights getting chewed all to hell in the process...
2..This ends Colin's terrors MUCH to his parents relief...
3..just a guess, but maybe also solved the Lux brown-outs...
4..quite probably saved the city and the luxfont...
5..Also a guess, but now that the wights are gone, the brownies should return...
6..and last but not least beats the ever lovin' crap outta "Dear Healer Raintree" the city healer after he patches up all his bites and other wounds!:o
Now there's gratitude for ya!
I agree that poor old Quentyn can't get a break....but I think he's gonna be just fine.

Give him more 'rep' as being resilient, but not for character.
Would you want to hire someone if he'll turn and start bashing the head of someone you've trusted for 'quite some time' in just as soon as he would do his job?

I'm quite surprised at how close this was to the truth...Quentyn: "Now *WHAP* you *WHAP* know *WHAP* how *WHAP* Collin *WHAP* feels *WHAP* after *WHAP* being *WHAP* scared *WHAP* half *WHAP* to *WHAP* death *WHAP* every *WHAP* single *WHAP* night!"

Oh yeah, lay the beat down on Dr. Quackery
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.
Yep......and it was his insistance that Marta (Lady M.) ignore Colins crys for help that has Quentyn so steamed. Lord Millfolk never did like the advise that he gave and said so. Also, Marta, seeing that Colin's rats were real and not his imagination will be far more inclined to defend Quentyn's outburst rather than condemn it.TGIF wrote:Not so sure how Mother Millfolk is going to feel about Quentyn's beating up the doctor - after all, it's the doctor she chose for Colin who Quentyn is beating up!TGIF
This may even bring back out the "brassy, independent, tenderhearted girl" that Cole originally fell in love with. All her instincts told her that Raintree's advice was wrong. Her instincts are now being vindicated with every 'whap' Quentyn lands. If Mother Millfolk tries to rebuke Quentyn's actions, there may even be a confrontation between her and Marta.
Mother Millfolk may be the senior member in the household, but Marta is the LADY of the house and when she speaks, it should be the same as if LORD M. were speaking. Since I don't know what kind of relationship there is between them, and I don't know the household hierarchy I can only speculate on this particular point.

Indeed, we need to see the Lady take control and join in the beating.

I just had a really wierd visual......Lady M. runs up, grabs Quentyns' arm and takes the curtain rod away from him.....the Doc breathes a sigh of relief.....Lady M. then commences to administer her own thrashing picking up where Quentyn left off!SolidusRaccoon wrote:Indeed, we need to see the Lady take control and join in the beating.
We'd be pickin' Coles chin up off the floor and tryin' to scrape Mother Millfolk's eyebrows off the ceiling!
I'm willing to bet that she's both relieved at her instincts' vindication and seriously PO'd at what Colin suffered through because of "expert advice".
