[...unWARP!!!]

Good evening.

Now THAT is an awesome image right there: Lady Millfolk charging up for a BIG BLAST. Love those claws and fangs!

Though that box right there should read "...any **Rac Conian** mother..."

Is everyone here panicking safely now? :D

Love is an amazing thing.

I've heard stories about the feats of adrenaline where a child is trapped underneath a car tire, and a lady rushes in and lifts up one end of the car by herself.

I suppose it could be said that this is due to instinct or species preservation, but I think it's more than that.

Love is an amazing thing.

Excellent cliff-hanger!

I just hope Lady Millfolk yelled "Collin!" loudly enough, and with that unmistakable tone of desperation we all hope we'll never EVER hear again, to bring the family and servants running.

(sidebar)
I don't know how Rac's are hardwired, but for we humans there is nothing that triggers a "drop-everything-and-run-to-help" reaction like a woman's scream of shock/pain, unless it would be that of an infant. Thank God we're made that way, it's probably one of the reasons the human race has survived this long. Even if it's only your sister being scared by a spider, the instinctive scream and the instinctive run-to-help is an undeniable part of life.
(/sidebar)

The unknowingly noble thing I see here, is that by attracting the "rats" to herself with her lux-based attack (whatever form it may take), Lady Millfolk could be buying Collin a few moments of safety - hopefully enough time for help to arrive. With luck, maybe the creatures will be repelled by the light from her candles. I sure don't know. Real life rats prefer darkness.

And where is Squidge?
:o

Why does it almost sound like he's talking about her as if she is no more amongst the living????

I wonder how you could combat something like that?
and since most of racconan society is based on lux,
kinda makes you think what are they gunna do against something that eats lux for breakfast???

Truely an epic battle.

Hordes of darkness, thunderstorm outside, wounded hero...

You know what this calls for?

Choirs singing in Latin... they make everything so much cooler.

Aye, that they do! Perferably to some gothic-sounding organ music as they flood out of the closet... yeah....

Squidge is almost certainly hiding... he might actually end up being part of the solution... half-accidently, as he escapes screaming(if he gets an opening), it might help bring more attention to the situation.

:D Bet we could borrow some of the music from the LotR movies... like the soundtrack that plays when Frodo's attacked by the Nazgul (Ring Wraiths to you non-Tolkien-fanboys) on Weathertop. It'd fit perfectly!

...well, maybe not. I mean, sure, the rats are scary... but they don't exactly measure up to the Nazgul...

Well, that depends on how many of them there are. =P Maybe a hundred don't, but start cranking the numbers up into the multiple millions and even Sauron would be running.

Specifically, the "Requiem"...

Ron, who taped a 9/11 memorial performance of it but hasn't gotten around to watching it yet...

She is pretty, but I don't think they have bikinis in the Seven Villages.

:P Sorry, bud. Won't see Lady Millfolk in a swimwear contest anytime soon.

Only if she left off the gamesin (sp?) you're supposed to wear underneath. IRL I'm a SCAdian and furry as hell to boot on my chest, arms & legs. I fight and wear armor as well as full chain mail......AIN'T NO WAY I'd put that on WITHOUT the protection......fur pull.....what about BARE SKIN PINCH????

And Lady M in chainmail is STILL a hot mental image. 8)

For this impractical situation (chain mail bikini... what a waste of perfectly good metal... :-? ) I would agree.

However, given that some sort of padding was often worn under chain mail, it seems to me that the Rac Conan Daimh might have chain mail the would simply make sure that at least one layer of cloth extended well past the each edge of mail (or to the end of the limb, whichever came first! (gloves, socks, full tail sleeve etc.). Is this right? Of course, they are metal-poor (especially these days), so (if I remember the first quest right) they seem to favor leathers with perhaps a few metal peices. Also, claws (say of a Gragum) would seem to me to catch on chainmail possibly resulting in the warrior ending up knocked to the ground, rather than just stumbled from the force transmitted in a non-pentrating swipe. Again, I am mostly asking a question in the form of posing a hypothesis rather than trying to make any suggestions.

How much did I manage to hit?

Pretty much all of them.

However, this all started with Squirrely imagining Lady M dressed as Red Sonja fighting to save Colin.......Me....I just took the mental image and ran with it.

Be that as it may....Lady M as Red Sonja, or even Xena is STILL a seriously HOT image......at least in my warped mind..
