Anyway, with Quentyn running outside the mist wall, and the growing need for raw materials, they will eventually HAVE to make contact with the outside world. Both parties make pretty good points pro and con. I can not really decide right now. I think I am in favor of changing some terms because they simply do not apply to the situation.

Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?' John 11: 25-26

I find sometimes that when remaking a game scenario (I organize and reorganize stuff constantly) I end up with nearly identical stats that are referenced to by different names.
my point is that if they do decide against being called 'wizards' they should find something that means the same thing to them but doesn't mean a thing to the outside world. by forcing other people to not have any preconcieved notions you force them to ask, and that forces them to hear the truth before they start adding in their own details.

I still say the doctor did it....
Yes because that's worked so well for negroes, blacks, african-americans, people of color that they seem to keep right on doing it every couple of decades. I think that a better effort would be to create a lens system that translates whatever you use to see lux into a portion of the electromagnetic spectrum visible to humans. That way, "here, put these on" becomes a practical bridge no matter what the terminology is.shyal_malkes wrote:I find sometimes that when remaking a game scenario (I organize and reorganize stuff constantly) I end up with nearly identical stats that are referenced to by different names.

What they call themselves isn't going to much matter. They must sommehow impose their semantics on whatever term humans use, whether magic or something new. This can be done, it's already mostly happened in reality. The concept of magic as just another science is oimplicit in nearly all roleplaying games. Games need rules and rules dictate repeatability. In a RP world magic is amenable to the scientific method. Many have magic on as firm a theoretical basis as Aristotolean physics*. Modern fantasy often has even more firmly grounded magical systems. They may not be described, but are often implied to be as universal and unkludgy as Newton's physics. Almost all of them still call it magic even though it's basically the same as what the raconnans call Lux. Magic now means "anything in fiction labeled that isn't possible in reality". Well actually it's more a case of anything in fiction that isn't possible in reality is either magic or "sufficiently advanced technology" depending on where it's shelved in the library, but I digress. If there's anyone anywhre in the ToTQ universe doing real science they are ready to be introduced to lux as science. Unfortunately it may be that noboby outside the mistwall is doing real science yet.

I almost missed the comic, Ralph. Perhaps you could post the comic ABOVE the commissioned piece?

Maybe he could insert a little note first saying to scroll down to the strip. That wouldn't be too much trouble, would it?Jaydub wrote:Jam, just remember paying customers come first........The JAM wrote:I almost missed the comic, Ralph. Perhaps you could post the comic ABOVE the commissioned piece?

I kinda empathise with the guy who says "Some of us struggled very hard to earn our title, Sir." He kinda looks like someone who went through Hell before earning the Title of Wizard, only to find the very next day that someone wants to eliminate the title of Wizard altogether.
I'd probably say the same thing in his place.

Because in general, terminal velocity creates a maximum impact speed very quickly, and the calculations to adjust terminal velocity for size, surface features, and density are far more difficult than most game designers can handle.Atarlost wrote:
