Sunday! Sunday! SUNDAY! *Reverb* (Aug 6)

Yeeeaaahh.... Lynch mobs = bad news.

I wonder who's the guy in the cage? Or, for that matter, what?

Again, the anticipation is almost unbearable. ;)
I really don't care anymore.

Ooh, new one!

Cage match...

Notice the funky ears-thingies...

Yeah. That is -not- a human in the cage. It's hard to tell from the perspective, but I think it's too small, too. The hands look human, though. Weird. Maybe it's a bat-critter? They do exist on Airith, I recall.

Just what Quentyn needs to do. Piss off the whole town by releasing the focus of their rage. This could be interesting.

And Quentyn's thinking in the last panel "now would be the time to get out of there before they all focus on me..."

Shyeah, Right... That'll never happen - this comic would be over in another week if he didn't have the huevos to get involved when he was needed.

At the typical lynching party, there's only one person who objects. And rven if they're valid objections, they usually get overruled.

It's a vulcan, or someone wearing one of those Dr. Strange neck cuffs.
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.

Elf maybe? Remember, Quentyn carries an "Elf-shot" submachinegun.

(Sorry about that last term but it's clip-fed, select-fire, it's a subgun. Deal with it :)).

This strip is also a first in that it's the first time humans have appeared in any of the RHJr. online comics. There have been some in the CDs, but never in the online strips before.

Nope. I believe that this one was the first.

It's more shotgun* than subgun, given that the selection is for how many "rounds" are fired at the same time as well as the spread(not to mention the nifty little pump-action cocking of the bowstring 8-) ). 'Course this is nitpicking, and no matter what any of us decide to call it, I think we can all agree it would involve the words "Freakin' sweet!", or some variant thereof.

That said though, I agree it's likely an Elf. Goblins, in generic fantasy, tend to be readily distinguishable from most other critters due to, well, their extreme uglyness, even if all one can see are the hands. The human-like hands, ears, and(I'll admit to making an assumption here) smallish size would indicate an elf.

However, there are other humanoid, non-goblin, non-elf beings with long ears, humanish hands and disposition towards mischife(or even more malignant behaviour) that could(and depending upon the locale, would) be locked up in a cage while a lynch mob 'debates' the proper punishment.

*=I know that example's semi-auto rather than pump-action, but it is a magazine fed shotgun.

No, wait, Quentyn gets to select the number of SEQUENTIAL shots, not "all at once".

Recall him firing at the rat-wrights in "full auto", clearly a burst-sequence.

It's the same thing now, he can just select the length of the firing sequence.

If Ralph knew more about guns he might have set it up as trigger-selectable exactly like a full-auto Uzi but what Quentyn has now is OK.

To Ralph's credit, Quentyn's firing stance in that Wright scene was awesome. Near a perfect Weaver stance as I recall. Lesse if I can find it...

Oh dang. You're right.

Be damned. I just read into it a full-auto burst.

Huh.

Anyone idea is this is possibly the first member of our fuzzy hero's little band?

Now, I'm thinking probably elf too, but the ear-shadows remind me of Bottom from "A Midsummer Night's Dream."

Now a human with a donkey head would be interesting...a real asset to the party.

Speaking of which, yes, Madmoonie, I concur. This guy's going to be the first of Quentyn's companions.
