What I wouldn't give for some fish poppers right about now. Granted, a safe delivery system would need some working on, but having explosives at your disposal is always handy. Can't find a door? Make your own sort'a deal.

I'm not exactly sure who RH was responding to with his previous post, if it was my previous post about civil actions, then, I think we miss-understood each other. I actually am rather fond of how Howard portrays the legal and executive system of the Seven Villiages(I think that's the proper term) I just got on a personal tangent of mine. So, if there was mis-communication, it was my fault, and I appologize.

Opening a locked chest containing a valuble glass sculpture. Nothing gives a bigger "D`oh!" facter quite like destroying the very object you spent the the last 3-5 sessions questing after.

Second, the problem was a redistricting bill that was blatantly, and openly, designed to give more House and Senate votes to the legislature-controlling Republican party at the time. You had to expect some resistance from the Democrats.

Oh, it's understood that Democrats will resist. But it's unconscionable that they deserted their posts, and did so specifically to prevent the lawful operations of elected officials. In short, they could not get their way so they tried to derail the democratic process entirely. To top it off, the Dems are no saints when it comes to gerrymandering --- they've "Republican-proofed" half a dozen states on the Eastern seaboard. At best this was hypocrisy, at worst desertion of public office.

Not much to do with the ongoing story, but this is a bit of a sore spot for me. Sorry for ranting. -:)

Quite all right, Calbeck, believe me. I just had to correct Ralph, who apparently missed the "new" in front of "Mexico". Considering the "walk out en masse" method has been around since the first meeting of the Constitutional Convention, however, it's hard to say it's not legal; after all, there's precedent. (Of course, by the same precedent, the Republicans were allowed to use any legal means necessary to drag them back... though there's some concern that having the F.B.I. searching for their plane may have been going a trifle far.)

At its worst, this is nothing more than a drastic version of the filibuster, designed to delay a bill or other legislation. About all it really does is register just how unhappy the people are. (And as for gerrymandering, you're quite right. It's why we're independents in my family.)

Heh. Ever read Watchmen? Alan Moore does the same thing on almost EVERY PAGE - and sometimes two or three times a page.

Actually, I was thinking of a scene in 100 Bullets, but that sounds good too. I'll look into it.
