I liked it, but some may find the canibalistic aspect just a bit much.
Maybe a smaller skull. She ate the teachers cat, or class ferret.
Then you also have the former teacher as an "on the edge of a nervous breakdown" character to play with later.

That's okay. Nobody really liked Mrs Pendergast much anyway.
