Jim, you are driving me crazy.

Every time I get frustrated with one of the Miracle's little eccentricities (for instance, wasting an entire page on a glamour shot of Colby staring at the same airship that we'd already seen him staring at pages earlier), you whip out some nifty little plot point that just makes me keep reading.

I've been on the verge of giving up on your frequently stagnant pacing many times, and then--BAM!!--here comes another curveball.

If only the plot kept coming as fast and furious as your beautiful art, I wouldn't find myself in this position.
Of course, I'm the one that isn't JP Sloan or Jim North.

I don't think the pacing is "stagnant" at all, except maybe from the perspective of having to wait for the next update. But when you read through the archives, things like that help the flow. Sometimes its good to let the comic linger for a moment.
I, personally, am guilty of the opposite crime, of squeezing as much action into each page as possible. It keeps people satisfied with each update, but I'm afraid when you read the whole thing at once, it seems way too rushed.
I guess it's just a question of priorities: are you writing to satisfy the people who read with every update, or to keep the work as a whole well-paced?

Trust me, I wish I could do Makeshift 5 days a week. The exact same material released every weekday wouldn't seem so slowly paced.

*sigh* Oh well...

I know it seems like the stranger elements have thrown things right out of whack, but the fog will be clearing a wee bit as the chapter progresses. I wanted to tell people who were complaining about the lack of direction to wait, just to wait until Iris' "roots" comment, but of course, no one knew it was coming except for me.

I hope that the Recap section and these forums can keep people up to date and intrigued.
