Maybe Iris doesn't exist and Colby is just insane. Maybe Iris is an artificially created human, an android, an alien, a dream, a weapon,the lost leader of a group of people, or a mutant. It doesn't matter to me, I just want to see more of the story.

i'd like to second the earlier opinion that Iris is real, she is a normal human girl, and that her sudden appearance in Colby's life is unexplainable and good that it is so. to say off the bat that she's a mutant or alien or whatnot not only seems out of context with the story, but also has been done before, and done before, and DONE before. and even if the Z-man decides to make her be something other than human, i'm sure he'll unravel her mystery in a timing and a way that is unique to his purposes and story. personally, i am LOVING how remarkably unique this whole comic is. you know how hard it is to find a truly ORIGINAL webcomic? well - duh. 'course you do. otherwise you wouldn't be flocking here...Iris is, for the moment at least, fully human, and THAT's a heckuva lot more mysterious in the context of the story than if she were otherwise.------------------

You know, it might be a trifle too easy a choice, but is it possible that Iris is an angel? That would explain the falling from the sky, the wish fulfillment, etc.Given the title of the comic includes the word "Miracle," it doesn't seem like it's out of the realm of possibility.(edit) Realized that I really misspoke here after I thought about it a little. I have major events and what-not planned out, but I want to be able to adapt the middle as I get a feel for the characters and the story I'm building. If it needs to be longer or shorter to accomodate ideas, I'm open to it. The possible angelic angle of Iris' nature has been brought up before. Her origin and demeanor both lend themselves in that direction. I still say if any fruit grows on that tree no one had better eat it. And then there's that cameo of the silhouetted 'devil' type character. Mind, sans back-lighting we'll probably find out they're not actually horns but some sort of dental prosthetic.
Of course this topic exists for the sole amusement of Author Jim to watch his Baffled Audience beat their heads against the wall of His Genius. Either that or he's going with Plan C....G.Of course I'm keeping the faith. It's MY faith! Keep your grubby hands OFF IT!

I didn't mean to come across as an asshole. Although sometimes I'm a whole ass. And the Campbell's Soup thing is just a symptom of my own brand of idiocy. Sometimes sarcasm doesn't come across as well when it's typed.... Actually I still subscribe to the 'biblical' theory, although I'm leaning heavily to the 'Colby is in an insane asylum' theory. After all, it would borrow heavily on Zubby's personal experiences.Oops. Said too much.

*big hug for MightyMike* can i call you "M&M"? j/kassylum theory. that's another fresh perspective that i hadn't thought of....*to the Z-man* BTW, gotta take the chance to say that your art ROCKS. i'm finally starting to take my art/drawing more seriously and while i've never considered comic-style drawing as what i was interested in, your particular style intrigues me. i guess because i've always aimed for a more realistic representation of people, and the vast majority of comics i've read tend to be more like characatures. your comic shows that the effort and detail of more realistic drawing not only is worth the trouble, but can carry the comic itself beyond mere toon entertainment to more of a....i think someone else here said it first.....literary quality. translation = ah like it. ah lahk eet ah loht....eh. got of topic. but since it's all about the Z-man, maybe he won't mind.....*curtseys to the viewers and skips out whistling*------------------

Okay, people, here follows a rather disturbing view of the world: Human beliefs and thoughts control the world. The world changes according to our way of looking upon it. The world WAS flat until people began believing that it wasn't Mind you, some people still believes it is, and to them, IT IS.Where does this lead, you may or may not wonder. The conclusion is this: When we dream, we use an awful lot of our imagination. More than we do when we are awake. Since we continously create this world around us with the waking mind's imagination, how powerful wouldn't the dream world be?I believe that Iris is a dream creature, forged by the dreams of many. Maybe she's an angel, maybe not. Many people know and dream about angels, so naturally the idea of Angels is firmly planted in the Dreamworld. Iris is a dream being that was somehow incorporated into this world. That implies a 'tear' in the fabric between worlds. Where one can go, others can follow... Maybe the person on the other side of that phone came here a long time ago, or mabye he or she still is there in the Dreamworld... Maybe this is the person who created the tear... "so, you're the one who found her"...

Thank you very much, I am rather pleased with it myself. As I have already told Jim, I have based an entire roleplaying campaign upon said theory. It works out nicely.If anyone here is interrested, I might just pen the outlines of the first adventures of the campaign and post them... So, are there any roleplayers out there interrested in a Dream-based world/campaign?
And BTW: I am working on a short piece of fiction regarding this Dream version of the world; on how the Dream Lord created the waking world in his dreams, and how the people of the waking world continously create both worlds, thus forever continuing the eternal cycle of belief. A creates B, which the proceeds to create A.

I'm always interested in role playing ideas that aren't the same old same old. Sometimes they offer something better and interesting, sometimes they don't. Yours sounds like it could. I'd like to hear read it please. Hell if someone were brave enough they could do up a whole world idea on it. Rules and everything....Gosh.

Aherm, thanks for the support, Chickstyle... Actually, I have spent the last three years devising a non-specialised set of roleplaying rules, called Omega. Something like GURPS, only better. Today, Omega has something like 4-5 different worlsets... unfortunately, neither Omega nor its worlds are properly finished and ready for the world to see... InDreams (the Omega 'WorldSet' based on my theory) is actually a great RPG, all by itself...Someday soon though, when I have a lot of spare time (*cough*; like that's gonna happen) I'll create an website for Omega, and perhaps upload some of the seeds I have for different worldsets...

All right, I think I've got it figured out. The horned character is a genie, which Colby released from a magic lamp. This lamp was conveniently disguised as a Pepsi can, as seen on pages 2-3. That fly...actually the genie in disguise. Iris appeared as a result of Colby's desire for a) something to cheer him up and b) more smart/nice people in the world. This explains her lack of memories and ability to read. She's merely a construct. Wish #1. Colby wished to be home when he was carrying Iris. Wish #2. Colby wanted someone to believe him about Iris, which Blake asserted he would. Wish #3. And now that his 3 wishes are used up, Colby's being drawn into the tree to pay the price. Or something...
