Yay Steven! In this latest installment, Steven doesn't feel as bad anymore, despite what he's seen. It's sure a stab at giving his rotten father a *real* piece of him. Thus good for Steven showing he will never follow in big bad Michael Alan's footsteps! I hope putting on that tail-bandage makes some difference.
But it surely seems if Michael Alan can disown Steven, then Steven can have every right to do the same. Having said that, regardless of Honour Thy Father And Thy Mother, Steven was the one who was dishonoured first, big time!
[This message has been edited by Jamie Jalecki (edited 12-21-2001).]

The only thing missing is a small "The End!?" on the last panel! ...but it's obvious this is not the end...at least for Steven!
Well...*sighs*...looks like it's over...(unless the Migthy Gene is planning some sort of epilogue)...attending this Festival was surely interesting(THANKS A LOT GENE )...I shall visit Furriston once more one day ! Until that...*pulls cap down*...farewell folks !

Well, that's the thing: the elder Avariss
hadn't really disowned his son at all. But he
doesn't really have any genuine paternal caring
for him either - he simply tried to use
deception to force his son back home. It didn't work! And Steven knows all too well
that the LAST thing his father would ever
want to see is his son wearing one of the
ultimate symbols of human/furry cooperation.

Steven has been trying to take the 'low-profile'
approach up to now, not wanting to make either
his father or the human-hating furries upset
by his presence. He was avoiding the Festival
for just that reason. But now that it's been
made clear that trying to be inoffensive won't
get him anywhere, that the fact that he *is*
an Avariss is going to put him in the public
eye no matter what, he's decided not to be
let himself be ill-treated anymore. Sometimes
a person has to have an event like that happen
to him - a 'defining moment', to use a rather
cliche'd phrase.

Taking a stand against a hate-based mentality
is indeed a retaliatory move - since it's not
only clear that his father won't back off, but
is willing to stoop to a level that no decent
person would even consider, he has decided to
fight back.

Well, it was definitely a downer for the
Festival, but they will be ending it on a
positive note. And yes, now Furriston and
the furry world itself does indeed have a
prominent new supporter.
