Remember when Gene Catlow was just a slice of life comic and the biggest conflict was how the weeks piece of office machinery was going to work?
At what point did it get so heavy?
Sheesh!

And that was in the first month. About the only thing that happened before was, after the introductions, Cotton and Gene compared ancient computer hardware, and then the little squabble with corporate management (BEAN COUNTER!). And mention of the conflict in Canovia, which I think is where it actually began to get heavy.
So, that time you speak of was actually very very short, prior to the beginning of the heavy stuff.

Gene has a story to tell that's bigger than all of us, that's all. There is no limit to the epic scope of his imagination, and I think the recent strips reflect that really well.
Still, it'd be fun to see Gene and CW wrestle themselves into a fountain again.
