1. What font do you use for your comic?

2. Mind a cameo in my comic?

I'm not Gene, so expect this to be wildly inaccurate.

#1: It looks like he hand-letters the comic. I could be wrong.

And, I'm not Gene, so I can't even fathom the answer to #2.

Hmmm you might want to take a look at these, where you can be sure Gene DID use hand-writing... Ref: 2000-08-09 (panel 4) and 2000-12-25 (last panel).

Oh, by the way, Gene, when I was looking for these comics-- I was at the ancient Canovian part (Ref: 2001-01-17) and wondered, did you create a font for these or just fill the speech bubbles manually?

No, I know hand-lettering, and the type is waaaaaaaay too regular for hand-lettering. Plus, I recognize the font, but it's one I don't have, so I don't know the exact name for it.

Oh, yeah...

I remember he mentioned that that was a font he made long ago... but I don't remember for certain

Hey, Jen's back! Hello Jen!!!
Now, as to your questions... The computer
font I use (and yes, you're right, I do use a
font, although I very often mimic it when I
can't get the fonted text to fit where I want
or for special effect) is Wild And Crazy,
which I purchased years ago from Active
Images/ComiCraft. They have tons of fonts
and graphic effects for comics available, and
you can check them out at http://www.comicbookfonts.com/

And yes, I would be very honored to
cameo in your comic! I had Hysteria appear
very briefly in mine, you know.

Font Creater Program 3.0

...although, you'd have to use it akin to "WingDings," since each symbol represents a word, and FCP only makes variants of each letter, but it's still a program to make a font

Wai! I can't find the "Wild and Crazy" font

Whassamatta, tired of using that "Unlike Minerva" font?

Ok, Ok, I'll get back to work... ^^;

The Wild and Crazy font is one of their most
basic "bread and butter" type of fonts, and
as such is usually offered in a package that
also offers basic sound-effects, simple ballons
and such. If you visit the http://www.comicbookfonts.com
site and click on the "Comic Book Fonts" icon
you will be taken to the fonts selection
screen. Scroll down to almost the very bottom
of the page and you will see a line of clickable
options, one of them being "Zap Pack". The
basic Zap Pack will offer the Wild and Crazy
font as well as the options I mentioned.

*chuckle* If you mean, about your GREAT cameo
of me in your comic, yes of course I noticed
that!! ^____^ I was (in my response) thinking
more along the lines of your possibly wanting
to use the font for your own purposes, in the
future! Incidentally, it's fascinating that
you got Vince and Fnar in there - I had, in
fact, a comic sequence that I was thinking of
using back when Pepe was planning his cameo
of me in his comic. But Jack turned out to be
such a complex and intriguing character that
I put aside that story and will be writing
another sequence with Jack in my comic later
on.

Niiiice

No, any changes I've made to my comic have been intentional and with at least some degree of explanation afforded... even if it's subjective as to HOW it's explained

Yes, I know - that's one of the things I love
about it. It is neat. Especially Hysteria.

::chuckles:: In one of my very earliest GC
installments I was playing one of the games
that tech types who've been around awhile
play: Name the Vintage System  What chunks
of silicon sophistry that long ago went to
the Great Computer Room In The Sky have you
ever programmed, owned, or just messed with a
lot?
Yes, I have an Amiga... actually, a few
Amigas, though I only still have active files
on just one of them. And I probably shouldn't
get into the numbers and/or vintages of the
other systems I own... I'll be here all day!
