I've opened up this topic to ask if any of my
readers/forum posters had any undue problems
getting to this new message board setup. Any
lost passwords, lost message posts, inability
to post, etc. So far, (except for a little
bit of hassle logging in sometimes - it has
on a couple of occasions not recognized my
password) it seems to be much faster and more
reliable than the old forum software. If any
of you have had a problem, please let me know
here. Thanks!

"Webby-dusty-old" forum archives don't seem to have been sucessfully converted. Well, that's not too bad, nobody was using it anyway. *cough, cough* Image

There's the Arial thing, but I can get used to that. I also missed the last # days feature, but the forum is not slow enough to make me bother with it anymore.

The black background was kind of strange at first sight, but I like it better because my eyes won't get as tired as they used to be in UBB.

Bottom line, if it depends on me, UBB stays at the dunghill, shot and abandoned.

Today, it's intermittently been completely unavailable. I've only just been able to load it up, and I've been trying for half an hour. Most of the time my browser just tells me that it can't connect to the server (pinging forums.keenspace.com gives 100msec ping times...), but at one point I got a server message that said phpBB couldn't connect to the database.

Something's fishy.

Oh, and it doesn't store my password in a cookie, though I've tried to get it to several times (something that UBB did do), but it does know my name.

But, overall, it *is* working faster...when it works.

Pros: Now, I can read from and post to here from school!

Cons: No "next topic" or "previous topic" links.
Until next post...

I guess they managed to get things migrated from one forum software to another. Impressive.

I think you'll find these forums to be more resonsive than the old version of UBB they were using. phpBB is the forum software I use for my site. I've had no problems with it thus far, and it was a cinch to set up.

No problems, seems fine and pretty fast. The only thing I've noticed is quotemarks, "", sometimes coming up as blank white rectangles, but I can't find any examples now so it's probably been fixed.

I imagine the Keenspot forums will be next.

I had no problem.

The keenspace forum is beginning to look like my ezBoard forum. *laughs*

The look of the forums can be changed quite easily. I'm sure they just want everything to migrate over properly first before they tweak the theme.

Thanks, everyone who posted! Those are the
things I wanted to know. Apart from the
problems I mentioned before, it's run very
fast and smooth for me. And apparently no
outright horrors for forum members, except
for perhaps accesibility (which seems to be
linked more to Keenspot servers than the new
forum software).
