ooh, in-depth analysis! this pleases me. I think you've got him just about right.
of course i'm not gonna reveal anything that happens, but...
I like Raine because he's not an interesting character at first glance. He's subtle in his disturbedness, and he's one of the most interesting to write for. Contrast him with Jean-Paul Damien, presented outright as a psychopath. JPD takes pictures of people with a camera - he's a voyeur, but he wants to control and posess. Raine just looks passively through the binoculars. His intentions are still open to debate. You're absolutely right that he's bitter and secluded...I like how his apartment's entirely grayscale. I also like the phrase 'intrepid quartet'!
and since i can't resist getting technical...Raine and Denny are the same degree of pale. Raine looks paler because of the contrast with his dark hair.

Geezum... Raine is creeping my stuff out.What we have here is a bitter, secluded, sociopathic ticking time-bomb. He's more pale than Denny (arguably) and when he's not obsessing on the wounds of his fate, or channel surfing under cold fluorescent light, he's watching the world through his Voyeur-vision.Wicked grinchy character development! Moving nice and slow, building up resentment so that when he starts acting out against our intrepid quartet, we'll believe it.Kudos.------------------

I responded to this yesterday but it didn't go through! bah!
Okay, Canada's a little more northern and it's not unusual to see really pale people here. but that's probably not the reason, cause the rest of the Canadian cast has healthy skin tone.
I'd say that Denny and Raine probably have a genetic predisposition towards being anemic, plus neither of them spends a whole lot of time outside cause they're skinny and unathletic and kinda sickly looking.
