Really? It's actually one of my all time favorites. Some of the best art I've ever seen in a newspaper comic, and she's kept an ongoing story going for about 20 years...and it's Canadian.
<This guy, because I don't know whether he's laughing or convulsing in pain.
Death penalty, or lifetime of imprisonment?
Death penalty, or lifetime of imprisonment?
Someone managed to think about chocolate.
And now you manage to dive into politics again...
<rant>
There's really not much difference between lifetime imprisonment and death penalty, but I'd go for imprisonment because it's at least a step in the right direction.
In some ways, the US is more like countries like Iraq and old Serbia than you'd like to admit. Not just by depending on a "strong" and charismatic leader always going for the "king of the hill" (and thus be disliked by everyone who manages to think by themselves (US is doing a nosedive in international politics currently, is it some form of inferiority complex? (There's no reason, really (Perhaps it's just, with being told you're the greatest country in the world, there's a long way to fall.. towards "Hey, you have your faults but we all do. Your'e okay enough."(And, ultimately, "why not use a lot of paranthesises"))))), but also the internationally rather rare death penalty.
I'm not sure the 21 years maximum penalty we've got here would work in the US, where being rewarded by a big heap of money would actually improve your social life. (Here, you'd be shunned for life by everyone but hardened criminals for trying that, no matter the money.)
But really, the wast majority of people deemed "worthy" of such penalties really didn't think it over very much. And ten or fifteen years of prison changes you, by age if not by anything else. Such penalties as mentioned above is about fear and retribution, not avoiding crime. There's statistical evidence for that, if your'e willing to listen, and not in any small way.
Most civilized countries got over this a century ago.
Actually, I think the concept of "there are justified reasons for killing people" is having a bigger effect on murder statistics than fear of penalty.
The first is always there, the second is an afterthought.

And yeah, I read "For better or for worse". It's a bit old-fashion-minded, like last generation or before, but that's of course not a fault if you think about it. (The problem with elders is being forced too much.) A bit high on the sugar, but why not? All in all, entirely a matter of taste. It's well done.
Male or female?

I'm an American and I agree with eveyrthing you said. Except for the the gross generalization.
There's actually a tremendous debate here in the States over Bush's current policy, and most people here have thought international relations is his worst point. Please also remember that his win was by a handful of votes (honestly, you could have fit his winning margin into a small home), and some contend that he stole the election.
So we're not living in a bubble of ignorance by any means - but I can see how people would think so if they intercepted our media announcements. And please keep in mind that Bush isn't an idiot - he may flub his words, but he knows what he's doing. Not that what he's doing is fair or just.
I'd say male, because it's easier to pee standing, so the line to the bathroom is shorter.
Dinosaurs or dragons?

Have you ever seen the original King Kong? I like the part with the big carnivorous dinosaur (either a tyrannosaurus or a megalosaurus or an anthrocanosaurus or something, I can't remember). I also like all those Ray Harryhausen movies.
I also dig mussaurus, the little tiny dinosaur. And parasaurolophus is pretty cool. And, scientifically speaking, probably very loud.
I mean...er....
...dinosaurs.
While I'm babbling on this tack, King Kong, Godzilla, or Mothra?

Rosie...I liked how after her talk show ended and she didn't have to be nice anymore, she just went off the deep end and started flinging venemous insults at various people.
Heh, and the greatest movie EVER is King Kong Versus Godzilla.
As for the controversial issue of the death penalty...we stopped executing people several decades ago in Canada, to the best of my knowledge. I won't get into a rant about why I'm against it - but basically sanctioning the taking of life is extremely shady territory, and the fact that there's no way to be 100% sure no innocent people are executed is too much of a risk.
But let's lighten things up a bit.
Roller skating chimpanzees, or exploding pie?[/i]

Of course it is! I like gross generalizations!justinpie wrote:I'm an American and I agree with eveyrthing you said. Except for the the gross generalization.
How else could you touch something like that in one short page?
I'm not aiming at you. Or the folks you keep for company. All the people I talk with on internet have the habit of, well, talking with a lot of people on internet and be open towards others.justinpie wrote:So we're not living in a bubble of ignorance by any means - but I can see how people would think so if they intercepted our media announcements. Otherwise I certainly wouldn't bother.
It's more like scratching my head at how in the world US has gotten to where it is, there *is* a truth about people getting the leadership they deserve.
Where are the people who buy that kind of tactics? It would be stupid to act like that if a lot of people didn't buy it, and as you say, Bush isn't stupid.
Dragons are cool, dinos are dead. Dragons.Dinosaurs or dragons?
Whoops. [Edit]
On to something lighter.
Skating shimpanzees. Exploding pies explode significantly less.

Oh, no worries, man! Just letting people know that many Americans agree things are getting out of hand.I'm not aiming at you. Or the folks you keep for company. All the people I talk with on internet have the habit of, well, talking with a lot of people on internet and be open towards others.

I personally worry about where it's going to go next. It's more like scratching my head at how in the world US has gotten to where it is.
