What do you want? (For the holidays)

Post by Laemkral »

So what's everyone doing and what do they want?

I really don't care what I get this year, but I'm bringing my family gluhwein (mulled wine) and Jason gets the snow globes I've bought for him. Mostly I'm just excited for all the fun stuff happening over leave. I'll be wearing my dress uniform 4 times in 18 days, so gonna put a bit of mileage into it, which given how much I paid for it...makes me happy.

Good for you Laem. I'm not really sure what's gonna go on this year. Last year we did a no-gifts Christmas, I think our aunts and uncles and stuff gave us a little bit of money but we didn't really ask for anything. Although before I went back to school my dad took me to buy a pair of hiking boods, so I guess that counts as one present.

What I'm really excited for is that my boyfriend is coming up on Christmas :) Since he's Jewish it'll be his first one, which is pretty cute. I'm excited that my family gets to meet him and vice versa. Gotta figure out what I'm buying for everyone though, nothing too expensive but hopefully I can find some nice things.

I'm expecting the usual assortment of CDs/DVDs/books that I get every year, probably some simpsons or scooby-doo stuff off one of my mates and maybe a bottle of scotch.
Gifts for the family and friends are already sorted so I can avoid the shops until January.
I'm hoping for the mid afternoon shift at work (crappy job) so I can avoid most of the customer flow.
No girlfriend again this year so no joy in that department but if Santa's lurking here you know who to send...if not that's when the bottle of scotch comes in handy.

Oh and it's my first xmas as an uncle so I'll probs play with the little monkey until he's ready to puke and then hand him right back to my brother because you just have to share the love.

not to be overly materialistic, but.

Nice Christmas Dinner (pork roast and so on)
New hard drive to replace the dead one.
Windows 7.
cash/vouchers to buy games and stuff.

but other than that, a nice, quiet Christmas would suffice, I've had way too much "excitement" this year and a little downtime would do me the world of good.

I figure the holidays are going to be pretty standard for me. Friends, family, food, etc. It'll be lovely.

I'll be giving many drawings and paintings, and I'll be getting a new easel, which will be awesome.

A new CD player would be nice.

But since I've been buying up a lot of cassette tapes as of late, a CD player with a tape deck would be even better.

Maria's hoping for a box set of TOS Star Trek, and Michelle wants this super-awesome thing (because her old scanner isn't compatible with her computer anymore).

Been asking for an ipad for as long as they've existed... so far I have $50 in apple gift cards. Getting closer! But I expect it will be a "visits from family in lieu of presents" year. Which is, y'know, also good.

I also want a Shonen Ai Kudosai reunion comic crossover with Quantum Cadet Shannon, but y'know... that's about as likely as a remake of The Last Airbender that doesn't miss the point.

Yay! Happy Hanukkah! btw, that printer's upgrade (the HP Photosmart C4780 All-in-One Printer) is the same price as the one you want. Your link is $100 with shipping, and the new fancier one is on sale for $100 with free shipping. (or $90 with my employee discount)

Edit: er... didn't notice that the amazon page has lower prices from other vendors, too... nevermind!

There was a last airbender movie. It kind of got panned by fans and critics alike... sad. But the same thing happened with the Hulk movie, so they rebooted it a few years later... maybe they'll do the same with Airbender?

That was what you were asking, right?

I really liked the first Hulk movie, but I wasn't too crazy about the reboot.

you mean how Hulk meets Thor was wicked awesome? or hulk meets DareDevil? or the Death of Hulk? that one made me cry... sad piano music.

I thought that was Avatar? so they had M night replace it with the Airbender movie?

Why cassettes?

Was that the one directed by Night M Shyalaman?
