Do you advertise Comic Genesis...

Post by Phact0rri »

... in real life? It seems to me that anytime people talk about webcomics, or wanting to do comics, I'm always mentioning CG. I realized this today at work, talking to Hip/Hop artist talking about making a comic for his CD.

I've mentioned it, but usually try to get people just to go for a paid host. That way I get commission.

I have. Usually when I'm talking about my comic in particular, though.

Er...they're talking about spreading the word about Comic Genesis as a service to friends and family, not about selling ad space on one's webcomic. Although as far as I know, that is also perfectly fine to do...? I know there are CG and Keenspot comics that participate in Project Wonderful, anyway.

I think it's a clever spambot that plucked a post out of one thread about advertising and stuck it in another.

Sadly doing a webcomic never comes up in any of my conversations with real people(with imaginary yes) so I don't get the chance to pimp out CG.

I do occasionally, but my own site is so paltry I feel silly and generally only discuss it with my geekier friends who appreciate the "webcomic scene" in general.

I...don't really get into conversations where ComicGenesis would come up. Maybe if someone asks me about my comic, I tell 'em about CG, but...I don't have that conversation a lot. Hardly ever, really.

And if I ever bring it up, well...forgive me, I mention ComicGenesis as being awesome, yes, but for me in particular as more of a stop-gap to get my comic out there until I can get the fan-base to justify getting a pay site where I can put my own advertising and maybe make a buck or two off my comic. I wouldn't care if I weren't a poor girl; I'd stay on CG forever if I had money to spare. But I'm unemployed and broke, so if I can make a buck offa my comic, I'll jump ship and host my own given the opportunity. S'no kick against CG; this place is great...but I gotta eat (and keep myself in booze and hookers, neh?)...

Just sayin'...

Heh. Yeah, when I tell people I like webcomics, people always go "Oh, do you read..." and then start listing off the big ones that we all love-hate. Even though I don't hang out here anymore, I like to mention Comic Genesis and Keenspot as good places to look for more comics to read.

I've only run into someone trying to make a webcomic once, though, and he already had hosting. Bleh. Image

I pimp CG every chance I get (I've been trying to get a friend of mine to do a comic on here for years). Back when I was still in school I even used webcomics (and CG, Keenspace at the time) as the subject of a few reports and papers and such.

I think it was Winston Churchill who said if you avoid Alcohol woman and tobacco one will live a 100 years but it will feel like two hundred. I don't doubt the vegan diet is much healthier, but life without meat and cheese? that ain't livin'. sure bacon will take decades off my life but it's soooooooooooo good.
