24 hour comics day

Post by Paul Escobar »

October 18th is 24 hour comics day. Participating in the official event requires people to meet up at a specific place and having the whole drawing session webcast. Hardcore!

Too hardcore for me, in fact. So. Is anyone interested in doing an internet lite version? As in we agree to devote October 18th to comicking, and we post our pages here as they come along.

Sign up here for great lack of sleep on October 18th!

How official is this "official" event? I ask, because that there site is pretty sparse for information, and I would rather not look like a total jackass if I were to go talk to my local comic shops about participating in it.

I might, if I'm not doing anything important on that day.

As far as I an gather, any shop or school or museum or retirement home or whatever can sign up for participating, provided some cartoonists actually promise to show up there, and they can put the results online as they are drawn. It's over three months till the event, so there'll probably be more info on the site at some point.

Every year I try to do this and every year something comes up.
But godddammit I'm going to try again. I'll book the day off from work three months in advance!

So yeah, sounds like fun.

I did it on my own last november. It was quite the task, I feel half cheeting because I drew on half-sized pages, but I draw so small and they were funny anyways. It's the main reason I started hand-drawing SFF now. Great way to hurt your arm and make you overdose on caffeine.

Y'know, I'm going to have to do one of these before I die. Mainly because I'm sure it'll be my cause of death.

I'm in, provided October 18th doesn't turn out to be busy for some reason.

Last year I did a 50-strip timeline of the universe. Still my favorite bit of work.

I'm in! Can't wait to go drawing crazy- I anticipate an ice pack on my wrist come october 19th.
By the way, Redtech, if that's how you are going to die, then maybe you should avoid all such drawing marathons and instead live forever.
Just a thought.

If I can get the day off from work I'm in. If not then I'll have to bow out.

I've contemplated doing it.

I keep forgetting when it is.

But meh, I do Nanowrimo and ScriptFrenzy every year, so I forgive myself. I suspect my hand would fall off if I did this.
