(No longer short notice) Call for guest filler

Post by JTorch »

Hello, fellow comic-people. My comic There's a Civilization on my Fork is going to finish its second chapter as of Friday, October 5th. It updates weekly, and after this story arc, I was going to put up some little sketchy filler for the next update (Friday, October 12th) so I could catch up on my buffer and such. Then I decided, why not put up some guest art throughout that week rather than a single little filler strip? So if anyone has some spare time and wants to do me up some little doodles to fill the time, that would be mighty awesome. If not, I can just use the crappy filler thing that I had planned.

Should you draw me something, it will stay in my archives with a link to your comic (though the comic before the filler week will be a page basically saying "the next few strips are filler, click here to skip them", like I did with my last guest strip week when my scanner was broken) , and I'll add your site to my links section on the front page. On top of that, your guest art will be added to the "guest comics" section on my page (so if you put your URL in the image, then that's even more publicity for you). Submit images in this thread, to my e-mail address (jason.torchia@gmail.com), private message on the forums, or the fanart submission page on my comic site.

The deadline is pretty much <strike>the start of next week</strike> October 14th, but if it's sometime in the middle of that week I can stick them up when I get them.

Thanks a lot! Image

Getting back into the guest art

Post by EmergencyExit »

Not sure if I can come up with a strip in time, but I'll at least try to produce a piece of filler art, I'll get it to you over the weekend.

Even one guest filler will be better than what I had planned. Image I'll probably still put my thing up, though. We'll see how many guest strips I end up with. I managed to get quite a few when my scanner broke a year or so ago, and back then I was pretty much unknown (like even more so than now). I guess what I'm trying to say is that you guys all rock. Image And thanks again.

I'll try, but don't take my word that it'll actually get done. . .I tend to procrastinate on these things.

Thanks, LC and Kat Image

If you start something but don't get it done in time send it in anyway whenever it is done and I can put it up as ordinary fanart if you'd like.

I sketched something out at work that I thought might be pretty funny for you. I'll have to recopy it out on decent paper and redraw it, but hopefully I can get it to you in time. ( I still have to finish inking my own comic to boot, but hey, I live for distraction. ^^) One question: you have any problems if the strip is pretty long (vertically speaking)?

Normally, anything wider than around 700 pixels will break my layout, but I can just put it in a scrolling div or something, so don't worry about the size.

See the deadline change in the first post. I realized that I wanted to put these up instead of and following my update after this week's, but the date I put would have been before and instead of the update. Sorry for that. Hopefully this will give everyone more time. No need to rush now. I forgot to mention, if I end up with more comics than there are days in the week for that week, I'll post multiple guest work on each day.

dude, your insanely large-ass guest comic is done. Horizontally its within 700, but vertically... honestly, I don't know what I was thinking. If its too big, and it probably is, I can break it up into two pages for you.

Just one snag... where the hell do I send it?

Thanks to the people who have sent me stuff so far. You guys kick 8 million different asses. To those who are still drawing, or are thinking about drawing, you guys kick ass, too. Seriously, there's so much ass to be kicked. I bet the final boss is like... a giant ass with a palette swap or something.

I have no idea what the hell I'm talking about and I'm going to sleep.

The first guest strip is up. Anyone else who wants to send me one still has until the 14th, but if you send them a couple days late I can still use them. Thanks again, everyone.

Thanks EE and 834n Image You guys both PM'ed me with the same subject line, less than an hour apart, interestingly enough. Anyone else who wants to send me stuff can still do so, but I think I have enough to fill at least a week if I put one up every couple of days. Thanks again, everyone Image
