Uh, hi guys!

Post by Scyze »

I'm new to the forums and Comic Genesis as a whole, and I wanted to introduce myself... and tell a little bit about what I've got planned for my comic so that people will know me. o.< And maybe even get a bit excited about it! I know this isn't the forum for comic pitching, and I'm not REALLY pitching my comic (officially), just telling a bit about it. Also, I wasn't sure whether this was supposed to go into off-topic or General Discussion, but I figured this was kind of an announcement and I was kind of talking about my comic a bit, so... if I screwed up, I'm sorry. D:

So, hi, I'm Scyze! I've been drawing my whole life, and my little deviantart is just http://scyze.deviantart.com/ . I've been reading a lot of webcomics, and I've finally decided I want to start my own webcomic, but really tell a story and raise some eyebrows, get some people thinking!

I've got some pretty out there beliefs, wild enough to be turned into a story of their own!

My comic is called Ascent. Cover image!

Image

It's about a time in the world when a powerful being, called The Messenger emerges from the woodwork of the world, out of solitude and meditation, and he shows the world his extremely strong abilities of telepathy and telekinesis. He preaches that all humans can unlock these abilities, and he really shakes earth up--especially when he levitates a car. The world undergoes a "spiritual revolution" of sorts, causing people with natural but suppressed abilities to unleash in their former power. Other people also realize that you can learn all of these abilities. There's about 10 of the abilities, some of which are extremely difficult to perform and don't appear until much, much later.

The main point of the comic would be to be realistic--despite the powers and all. The reason for manning all my story-guns to the realistic side is that so people would take the comic seriously, and actually consider the ideas presented in the comic. The comic would be a highly intellectual comic, dealing with all sorts of deep and profound subjects, especially to do with the nature of the universe, and some more down-to-earth subjects--but not only that, but it'd have a lot of ass-kicking, too.

So, uhm. That's it! Thanks for reading. I hope I can fit in alright here.

editps: Oh yeah, and since it's apparently a 7 day waiting period before my site gets hosted (or something, I don't know), you can't really visit the site. Not that there'd be anything to visit yet, though.

Hi there, and welcome to CG. I hope you have a good run here.

However. comic pitching is usually reserved for the comic pitching forum~

Thanks, and, there is? I checked around, well... guess I need a better name. Not much trouble changing the name at this point--thanks for the tip.

Thanks! And yeah, sorry. Just wanted to say a bit of my piece in my introduction. The real pitch, though, will come eventually.

You won't be forgiven that easily  . Anyway hi :D the comic sounds like something I might check out when it gets going.

G'day.

Whatever happens along the way, do your best to enjoy the trip. Good luck and all the best. You sound as though you're serious enough about your story to last the distance at this point. Here's to wherever your strip may take you.

Cheers.

Welcome. You'll find out pretty soon that the inmates are running the institution. All indications to the contrary, we're very pleasant and helpful.

Once you're up and running, the Help forum will be your best friend. Most people (myself included) find the start-up phase to be the most difficult phase, despite the benefits from autokeen. It takes a little work, but you'll eventually get your site to an acceptable level. And with the wide experiences of everyone here, the odds are good that someone has faced the same problem at some point or another. After that, it's just that whole comic thing. That's a completely different struggle.

Good luck and welcome.

Welcome to the group. It's nice here. Mostly. Except for that thing no-one talks about... but as long as you have a pineal gland you shouldn't have to worry about that.
