Okay, I've pulled out the most popular nominations from the other thread and stuck them in a poll here. The poll will close in 2 days, so have at it.

Most of them are really awesome names and I'm sad that I can't vote multiple. :(

I voted for something else, but now that I think about it, M'Lady is basically the perfect name for a server.

I've gotten a few requests that after this poll is closed to take the top two/three names and put them in a new, final poll so we'd have a primary -> preliminary vote -> final vote process. The idea being that in a poll with 10 options, it takes a less-than-majority vote to win and in a poll with two or so options the percentages are more accurate.

Yea or nay?

Well, being that the winner is one of a few names that don't ring well with me (sorry Nanda), I gotta say yes.

One opinion: some of names could sound better than if they were phrased different. To me, for instance, Ugly Girl and Angry D Monkey sound a lot better than just Ugly or Angry. Also m'Lady is a wonderful name for a server, while the full name that is noted there is unpronouncable.

Similarly, since Ugly is currently winning, I'm gonna say "no."

Will there be time Merc?

I'd hate to see RedWolf have to delay putting up the server just because we're having a vote run-off. Remember it arrives tomorrow 6-23, and he wants to install and work on it 6-24, which means it needs a name by that point.

And there's no possible way it couldn't be given a placeholder name and then renamed when the poll is done?

Angry D?
Caught in the headlamp glare of your own blinding vanity/Mesmerised by the stare of your shallow personality
Gorging the junk food of flattery you drag your fat ego around/Everyone floored by the battering you give to whoever's around
Oh Narcissus you petulant child admiring yourself in the curve of my eyes/Oh Narcissus you angel beguiled unsated by self you do nothing but die

I'm not sold on any of those (yet), but for some reason, I really like "Doombee". :P

I'll hold my vote for a day and see what I come up with.

Atch. I clicked on the wrong one. Could you subtract one from Gumpy and add it to Angry D?

Depends on how he plans to implement the server - if it's going to be running as a test environment for awhile, sure he can. But given we're having active hardware problems, he may want to put it into production right away, and once it's in production, it gets lots more annoying to change the name.
