Hi everyone. Well, here goes. I decided to start my own webcomic review blog because, well, I like reading webcomics, and like everyone, I have an opinion, but unlike everyone, I want to share it. Non-harsh reviews for regular peeps. Anyway, two reviews are up right now and I'll be throwing up more faster than you can say "Britney Spears is nuts!" Check it out and lemme know what you think! Also, if you would like your comic reviewed, either email me at uncaringmachine.aol.com, let me know on the blog, or right here!
One thing I might suggest.. It looks nice, but I would if possible (I don't use blogspot so I don't know) is to add a linkback to the comic for the casual surfer?
(Edit, I see them now my mistake GJ!)
Help's with hits, and lets your blog reader compare your opinion to the strip in question.
And just to be picky, you may want to look into these new-fangled dickerydoo's called "paragraphs". I hear they are all the rage in Europe at the moment...
I had paragraphs, but when I put the images in it got rid of my paragraphs and now I can't figure out how to make them again. Every time I do and publish it and then view it they aren't paragraphs.
So you had your blog set out a specific way, then the blog site / software auto-formatted it like Microsoft Auto Format (destroys the layout, makes it look horrible and refuses to go back to the way you had it originally)?
I don't know about you, but I'd delete the account, tell anyone who'd listen how crap it was and move to another blog supplier.
Or why even use a blog site at all, why not use a regular, free website host? If you make your reviews as basic html pages, you can use an iFrame in the index of your comic and have the latest review show up there, with all the older ones available on the dedicated review site.
::NCI, line 19: improper comma use. Semi-colon suggested.
::HoA, line 1-11: run-on sentence. Break by period suggested
Grammar nazi mode complete.
Seriously, though.... your writing reads a bit awkwardly at some points, and that detracts from your projection as a point of authority. You don't need to be a good comicker to be a reviewer, but being a good orator is advised. Try reading through the reviews again with that in mind, in order to seek out a more authoritative tone.
This is going in my notebook titled "Things I Didn't Know about Surface Dwellers."
Meh, minor mistakes don't matter much. I'm so used to seeing this stuff (even in professional works) that it doesn't bother me. What's actually important is having content. Any retard can read a comic and give a basic summary of its plot. The actual worth of the review comes from analyzing, understanding, and criticizing the work. My most basic advice would be to go through the Webcomic Above thread and look at how each person does their reviews differently and decide which aspects you like and want to incorporate into your technique and which aspects don't work or could be improved upon. I dunno if most people realize this, but reviews vary as much in quality as the comics themselves, and like everything in the world the way to get better at it is to study quality reviews and practice doing reviews yourself.
"Seems like the only comics that would be good to this person are super action crazy lines, mega poses!"
You're definitely limited with what you can do with blogger. I've used it for awhile and can't say anything special about it. Especially now since google owns it. (Not trying to be a hater...they just seem to want to eat the entire web)
If you have your own web space, I'd suggest word press or something along those lines. Or just find a techie infested news site and see what they have to offer. For now, though, blogger is fine.

Wow.....okay, I'll work on my reviews. But that's what I'm trying to do, I'm only two reviews in. I appreciate the reviews of my reviews, I just have to deal with the fact that not everyone will like my style or lack thereof. Spelling errors and run-on sentence taken care of, Black Sparrow! Thanks people! http://www.jacksreviews.blogspot.com
Okay, I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say I actually think the site looks rather nice. Granted I didn't spend an hour scrutinizing every little thing, but for what it's worth, I think it's laid out rather well.
It's easy to read, but it doesn't read so much as a review, as a general recomendation. Just my opinion though.
Thanks people! I'm working hard to correct problems. Oh, and I was wondering if anyone thought the latest review for Packet Of Noobz was a little harsh?

Anyone who considers that harsh has all the mental consistency of a junket sandwich.
Remember when your imagination was real? When the day seemed
longer than it was, and tomorrow was always another game away?
Thanks for the kind review! I liked the comments about how you could imagine it as an animated series...I probably draw as much inspiration from cartoons as comics.
As for the spelling...this is the 3rd review I've got that's mentioned it. Darnit...I'm actually really anal about checking for spelling errors, but I guess those sneaky buggers get through anyways.
A zoo full of cute yet uproariously funny animals...how can you go wrong?

Nope, it seemed pretty balanced to me. Good reviews so far!
