Say what? (A "has this ever happened to you?" type thread.)

Anyone here ever found someone saying something about their comic that was either untrue or made no sense? I don't mean opinions you disagree with, like that it's the worst comic ever or that you're ripping off someone else's style, I mean times when says something about your comic that is just contrary to reality. The sort of thing that just makes you go "huh? Where'd they get that idea?"

I had that happen a few days ago.

Found it on the Megatokyo forums while searching for my comic's title on Google. (Yes I do that. Sometimes it turns up interesting results.) Apparently people there were having fun pasting new dialog into Megatokyo strips and someone said.
hey!! you ar eusing dialogue from Sharing a universe!! COOL!! the dialogue erika uses is from the head maid. and piro is some guy.
I don't really know if that was serious, but I do know it wasn't accurate. None of the dialog used is from my strip, although some of it was in a French accent, as does one of my characters (whom I assume the posts author is referring to as "the head maid").

had a review of my comic state that the main characters turn into Furry catgirls

(they don't they have magical girl costumes that have cat ears and a tail kinda like the Catwoman costume, but they remain about as human as Selena Kyle does)

Circle Arcadia is an unfortunately uninspired comic, but seems to be a good exercise for the author, at least in terms of Art.
Having read her posts and talked to her in chat, I would suggest that she stop thinking about getting onto services like Girlamatic, or self publishing, because this work is simply not ready. Concentrate on using it for practice is the best advice I would give.
For anyone looking to read it, I would just use my comments as a warning if you dont enjoy anime or fantasy stories. Or are, as many, offended by MS paint artwork.
That review just didn't make sense to me at all. Uninspired? I worked on it for 5 years before it was posted online. Maybe I just didn't have the...ability of storytelling then, like I do now. I don't know. It really hurt my feelings, but it was the first time I really wanted to improve....so I guess it wasn't too bad.

I sure Claude meant no harm.

I've been informed my comic is a QC fancomic, but that's more an accusation of ripping off someone else's style....and dialogue...??

I've also seen a claim that Therefore I Am is a bondage comic, but that was really my own fault for putting that filler in there.

I just get things along the lines of 'the kids look ugly', 'the ears are too big', 'it's trying to make school seem positive', 'he doesn't write in proper English' sort of stuff.

I did get a review once that failed completely to mention the spirits in the story. A fairly major ommision I would have thought.

Someone once thought that "mcDuffies" was drawn with a mouse.
Of course, I wasn't upset about it. The person liked my comic either way, I didn't even bother to correct her.

weeell, not untrue, just genuinely creepy..
(this is from sometime ago) (real MSN convo)

Markus: Mary
Luke: wha?
Markus: the red fox Girl in you comic ...
Luke: yeah, what about her?
Markus: uhm nevermind ...
Luke: riiiight
Markus: nah ... when i tell you, you will only think that i'm (more) insane.
Markus: have the charakter real paragons ?
Luke: nope.
Markus: oh ... ^.^ ... libertine...
Markus: i have really look more for real girls ...

then there was that other guy who wanted me to put a transgendered character in my comic, but that's another story, and i think i've lost that log..

in other words i haven't had people say untrue things about my comic, 'cept dan kim of manga clone army, but that was more a pot/kettle thing.

I've had people state that certain characters were related to each other when they weren't, or go to different schools when then all go to the same one. But nothing really out there.

The only thing about mine was that two of the main characters are elves. They aren't, but they are drawn differently than the other characters (there is a reason, but it won't show up in the storyline for awhile yet, if at all really).

I have to sympathize, you deal with racist fans and trolls more often than I know of other comics.
