Comic Artist Wanted:
Artist Wanted:
Author looking for comic strip artist.
Art style:
Black and white illustrations.
Only simple illustrations. (along the lines of ?The Peanuts? or the early ?Calvin and Hobbes? and the early ?Garfield? comics in style.)
Format:
Single row.
Three to five panels (sometimes, just one)
Pay:
Will be negotiated. (No promises, though)
Art Supplies:
Could possibly pay for.
If you?re interested in working with me: just send me a PM, complete with a link to some samples of some your earlier work. I?ll answer it as soon as possible.
Work set up:
I?ll send you the scripts that I write up. (I?ll be as thorough as possible when writing them, so don?t worry about not knowing what to draw.)
The strip, itself:
It?s your typical talking cat and talking dog comic. If you?ve read ?Get Fuzzy?, ?Garfield?, or ?Faux Pas?, you?ve seen comics along these lines. It's about a cat, Boston, and a dog, Prancer, and is a "simple gag" strip by nature, though it will have story arcs. Its about two comical talking pets who go on various insane and hilarious adventures. Their master is sometimes dragged into it.
It has no set plot, as it will be pretty episodic most of the time.

Not many people have much luck with this sort of thing, unfortunately. Drawing is harder and more involved work than writing and anyone who signs on will be doing a lot of work for an untried and untested author whom they don't know. Even if you are a good writer, they don't know you or how you work. They, in short, don't know how well they'll work with you or you with them.
It's a huge leap of faith. It does happen and it is worth trying but don't be surprised if nothing comes of it. Here is certainly not a good place as we all have our own comics.
However, you're offering money. Well, sort of. That always helps.
It is also, incidently, not that hard to learn how to draw. Many, many comics, if you look at them at the beginning, have anything from bad to abyssmal artwork. College Roomies From Hell, which is very popular, started out with very crude scrawls indeed.
Best of luck, though.

heh, I believe he did.
Especially if you're only looking for 'early peanuts' level quality then I shouldn't think it would be very hard at all to learn to do yourself.
Also I think you'll find there's no love lost between folks here and garfield. So recruiting people for a garfield-esque strip is probably not your best pitch.

If you can actually afford to pay an artist, post this on Deviant Art.
If you can't afford to pay an artist, better start practicing drawing.

Insane and hilarious adventures, ey?
But really, I think cat and dog comics have been done to death. Why must it be about cats and dogs? Why not ferrets and parakeets? Hamsters and turtles? I mean, what is so magnificent about cats and dogs that everyone has to do them? In this example (not that I'm trying to pick on you specifically) I see nothing in the pitch that requires that the critters specifically be a cat and a dog or even that they be animals. I mean, I guess it could be justified in the story, but if you need to justify it, why do it in the first place?
*deep breath* Okay, I'll shut up now.
Also, props to Joel, who is apparently now our official artist-wanted-topic greeter.
