Ideas for future comics

Post by Kalle B »

Hi again!

A lot of people talked about ideas they had for future comics in this thread, so I figured I might just as well start a separate thread about that.

I go first!

One idea is a comic about a bunch of 14 year old girls in a small swedish town who suddenly gets magical powers. Yeah, it screams mahou shoujo, but the thought is to make it in a rather serious and dark tone. What do you do when you're 14 years old, from a dysfunctional family, living in a boring town with little to do other than skipping school, drinking stolen booze in the parks at night and dreaming of better things, and suddenly gets your hands on mighty supernatural powers? And then there would be the question of the source of those powers...

Another, a bit vaguer idea would be the story of a young man in some kind of undefined future world who gets his hand on a very special revolver. This revolver is nothing less than the self-destruct button that God built into creation. The first five bullets are supernatural in strength, each capable of an exponentially increasing destructive power. The sixth bullet is the one that ends all reality. Of course, our hero does not know this, and a number of people are after the gun.

Woo! That sounds fun.

I'm planning to do this mini-thing where a boy has his lips stapled and sewn to his cheeks to make it look like he's frowning all the time. But he's not, he's really happy. But when people think he's sad even though he's not really sad, it makes him actually sad. Errr....yeah.

Those are good ideas too!

I have one about a guy who gets into an accident and survives, then when he got out, he developed superhuman powers. And anytime his life is in danger, he grows stronger. He finally goes out of control, and killed anybody who stood in his way, until he saw his sister crying. He finally stopped, and vowed not to use his cursed power again.

something like that!

I'm planning on doing a short comic based on a real life story about a friend's "misery journey" through Canada.

I'm also tossing around ideas for a children's story with my friend Sabrina, about a world populated by the anthropomorphic personifications of typos. Here are a couple character sketches:

Oh! Oh! You gotta include "Hismelf", Psi! :D

I'm currently drawing two separate non EOI comics, which is the reason for my lack of promised production. One is a superhero story, the other a fantasy story based off of my favorite tabletop system (Talislanta, in case anyone knows it)

That so deserves to become the classic Internet Age children's story.

My comic that I ditched early on, was about a kid who listens to music and becomes God. He creates his own world and everything is cool and harmonious.

I still might make a short of it, while I still have freetime.

I have a -specialproject- in the works with a friend of mine, but we're trying to put together a proposal for Tokyopop, apparently, so I don't know when(/if?) it will show up online. It's about a government complex filled with mischievious psychic teenagers. Rascals they are, rascals indeed.

I have a vague superhero idea, which probably will never come to be because I haven't worked most of the characters out.

I also have a space idea, which will probably never get worked out either.

Not a very promising list of ideas, but it makes me eager to start a new project, so I consider it a good thing.

Oh sure! Come up with this thread after I posted in the other one. Oh well.

Well, my other project would be my take on the RPG-style fantasy genre that's been done a hundred times already (and much better, probably).

I had an idea for a sprite comic (I know sprite comics are evil, but whatever) about the Doom series, which I actually made a single episode of that went over pretty well with everyone I showed it to. I was basically looking for a way to vent over people who act like idiots in online games. I actually started on a second episode, but I haven't finished it yet. I may or may not finish it by the end of the summer. And after that, the future of it shall be determined by weather or not I feel like making any more. Sprite comics are apparently filled with legal landmines and people telling you to learn to draw and junk like that which I don't want to bother with if I don't feel like it.

I have another series in mind, but I lack the artistic skills to put it together right now. Actually, I have a couple...

I was planning to write a strip comic about kids in a private boy's school that is right beside a private girl's school. My artist is AWOL, however.

I don't share future projects...but let's say there's a graphic novel in the process.

i have a couple ideas for future comics.

The 1st is about the crew of a cargo spaceship slowly going insane because of... (heh, i'm not telling).

The 2nd is an action-superhero comic set in present-day Panama. Supers are way less powerful than the classic ones: they can get their asses kicked by normal people quite easily if they're not careful. Also, there won't even be the typical heroes vs villains thing: Characters will act according to their ideologies and believes and all of them do something that's undoubtly right and something that is questionable. There will be more philosophy and socio-political talk than the average action comic.

Then there's a fantasy comic, but thought i've got a picture of the world and some of the characters i still haven't developed a plot.

I'd need an artist but there's another character in my story who would shine in a spin-off comic. Apart from that, I'll be turning any other ideas into stories/novels.

I'll have to say I think this one sounds ultimately awesome.

Okay, here we go: I have a LOT of stories of varying complexity and suckiness-level, but there are only three of them I'm actively considering for my next project.

Number one is a fantasy story of sorts, about a school of magic (and no, it's not like Harry Potter. Honestly) constantly under the threat of attack from an amorphous, shapeshifting mass that covers the entire world except for a few schools. To keep it back, a group of students with extraordinary talents or abilities - and the odd volunteer - are appointed to 'protection duty' which they must fulfill, or they'll get kicked from the school, which is the same as death - nobody knows what the world outside them walls is even like. This one is a pretty lighthearted mystery story, though not as much as A.N.T, and the most likely to be my next comic.

Second one is a truly odd story about a girl who experiences a car crash and discovers that she is, in fact, a god. I envision this one as pretty dark and experimental, both in content and especially in art. This one might turn up as a side project to either A.N.T or the school story, but I want to practise storytelling in comic form for a while more before jumping into it.

Third is a fantasy story as well, about a half-dragon girl and her search for the truth about who she is. I have a world and characters thought out for this one, but the story is still unbelievably sucky, and on top of that, I envision this one as a highly detailed, european-album style comic which I'm far from able to draw yet, so chances are this one will never see the light of day.

Aside from these three larger stories, I also have ideas for a couple of 'shorts', like the one about a superhero guy who gets his power from his beloved - litterally - or the shonen tournament story about a boy whose robot pet is a sugary-sweet 6-year old android girl who decides to become his little sister.
Warning: This poster regularly makes unintentionally sexual posts. Or at least "unintentional" is what she claims...
