Controversial, or just hillariously bad?

Controversial, or just hillariously bad?

Post by RemusShepherd »

Note that these were professional, published comics. :) (That is, if you consider Rob Liefeld a professional, which is a tense debate.)

We all know Jesus, right?
Did you know he met Zeus?
...and kicked Hercules' ass?
and then super-Jesus turned on the rest of the greek pantheon?

Of course, Jesus would have had a happier time if Spider-Man had been there.

There may be more artistic merit in professional comics, but I think most people here are better writers. :)

Heh heh, I thought those Jesus comics were pretty funny. I was hoping for him to go Super Saiyen and then start using blast attacks on Zeus.

It was supposed to funny right?... right?

Hmm... Jesus beats the crap out of old gods... Wait, wasn't that how they marketed him here back in the 1000's? Turi, I trust you to know more about this than I do.

That Spider-Man thing... *dies*

The answer to your question is: "just hillariously bad." A storyline that makes no sense, bad texting (very hard to read), and a plot that is not really controversial, just stupid. Or perhaps controversial only for the sake of controversy, which equals stupid anyways. It doesn't even have the bite that usually follows controversy.

But the Spider-Man thingy is funny.

Aw, man, that's freakin' AWESOME. Funniest thing is, I HAD a Mother Teresa comic book when I was a kid. Yup, my family was that catholic.

Well....

Jesus then goes through the Norse Pantheon, The Indian Pantehon, Numerous members of the Native American Pantheons, conquers Mars, and returns to earth only to be stabbed in the back (it is by far the most violent scene I have ever seen in any medium, be it comics, television, or german porn) by Pat Robertson, who uses the publicity to launch a multimillion dollar fundraising campaing to buy brand new gold toilet seats for his Porsche.

What can I say, Leifeld sucks as a writer.

Funny enough, I've never heard of Leifeld before. Who is he?

Word.

Ida: He's a comic artist who's famous for copying other peoples work, and when he doesn't (and sometimes when he does) is notorious for being awful about proportions.

Hahah, I love Rob Liefeld.

A personal favourite. I like how his monstrous chest is swinging open to reveal the treasures inside.

Heh, Rob Liefeld...he has about as much cool cred as Captain Planet these days. And no, I don't find anything particulair edgy or controversial about religious or Greek Mythology juxtaposition.

Well, that seems to be a good thing about living in a small linguistic area: Usually, I am rather annoyed by the fact that we have only three superheroes comics (Spider-Man, X-Men and a sort of "best of the rest" magazine), but at least that means that we've been spared from THAT.

He is thankfully no more in the comic world (for the most part).
