If you could rename Keenspace, what would you rename it as?

For discussions, announcements, non-technical questions and anything else comics-related or otherwise that doesn't fit in any of the other categories.

While the thread is in a zombie like place between life and death I may as well ask a question that's been bugging me since I first saw this. In the off chance that a name change does occur (and it seems now that it wont), would it be to something like:

Inkspace: A keenspace comunity

or a full name change?

I ask because in the first example It doesn't affect me all that much. In the second possibility I have to go and rename EVERYTHING in my site from:

http://whatnow.keenspace.com

to things like

http://whatnow.inkspace.com

If you have alot of files that is ALOT of things to edit, not to mention the fact that alot of the Space Jam pics would stop working as keenspace.com wouldn't be recognized anymore. That issue scares me WAY more than what Ghastly was saying way back when.

In any case, I'll let this thing die now.

First of all, it's been mentioned that if a change occurs, they would be able to redirect and keep the keenspace stuff.

Second of all, you should be coding things for your webpages with the full url. You can link to a page (a href="index.html") instead of (a href="http://name.ks.com/index.html"). Same goes for images and the like.

It's a good idea to just go ahead and do that, because you never know when you might have to move anyway.

Also, ressurecting old threads is creepy.

Just one correction. It's best to use urls pointing from the root directory. If <a href="index.html"> got moved from root to folder webpages the page would then look for webpages/index.html. You should tell it to start looking from root directory using <a href="/index.html">. This mistake is the most common reason why peoples images don't work in their archives.

.....inkspace?

The name isn't bad, I guess...but aren't we a part of the keen company? I don't think it's the keen that's confusing them. It's more than likely the spot/space thing.

Inkspace doesn't bother me so much because my comic is inked....but there are A LOT of non-inked comics on here, and just to be blunt, I'm proud to tell people I'm a part of keenspace. Inkspace just....it don't sound right.

Is it REALLY that big of a deal that people get a little confused? I don't see the topics popping up that often, and lets face it; Keenspace is an established name. Why mess with success?

...I guess it's better than drunkduck.

This thread is probably irrelevant now. The Keenspot management seems to have ignored it the first time so there's no sense in belaboring the issue.

A better goal would be to come up with ideas about how we can pay for the $10000 initial setup of the Doombees server and the roughly $1000 odd a month it'll take to run the thing (and you probably want to set aside another $3000 a month for admins). Considering that's as much as I make a month at a full time job we would need to have some serious cash flow coming in. Donations and ad views certainly won't cover it.

Alternatively, one could wait for WCN and opt for a publisher account instead.

Even if they changed the name, there would have to be automatic redirects from the .keenspace.com to the .newname.com address.

Saving up for a new server could also be difficult.
