Ever have one of those pages...?

Post by Xmung »

you think - "right, this page will be easy peasy to draw" - but you couldn't be more wrong... some frame takes forever to draw for any number of reasons, or you draw it and hate it and have to draw it again (and again)... or you have some big disaster (spilt coffee, dog attack, whatever). i've just been working on a page for magellan and thought it would be a knock over - didn't leave enough time and am now pushing the update deadline! any other tales of woe?
Magellan ... super hero cadets - their worst enemy is themselves!
Loxie and Zoot ... cos nudists have adventures too y'know!

BAH, all the time.

Perfection is impossible, however. It's best to just work with what you've got. Bah again.

I think we've all had that problem... The number of times I've drawn and then promtly redrawn Baine's head just because it didn't look enough like her or the hair wasn't big enough... RAR! >.<

some pages I get really excited about drawing because I think they're gonna be great fun and they're gonna turn out really well and then I have loads of trouble with them...My layouts are getting less and less creative as I work my way through the story, too. hmm.

It seems as though all of my pages have gone that way  . But at least they seem to be getting easier.... And as far as the spilt coffee, etc., that's one reason I love doing comics on a tablet.

The house in the first panel took THREE HOURS! And that was before I started shading which took at least another hour.

Haha I remember you complaining about that. You should come out with like a special edition of that one with behind the scenes, making of footage and stuff.

Right...moving on.

Most of the The Fan in Japan stuff went that way just because there was more background stuff than usual, but they sure ended up looking nice, I do say so myself.

Not so much that I can't get it to look like I want (I have low standards); more like I can't seem to just sit down and draw. I'll get back up, I'll fidget, check the fridge or the microwave or the PC or the TV or the radio or whatever, get a hold of myself, return to where I left my board, pause for a moment or two, and then I'll get up again.

Happens at least once a month.
Faith is what credulity becomes when it finally achieves escape velocity from the constraints of terrestrial discourse- reasonableness, internal coherence, civility, and candor. Thus, the men who commited the atrocities of September 11 were neither cowards nor lunatics of any sort, but Men of Faith- perfect faith- and this, it must finally be acknowleged, is a terrible thing to be.

No. Never.
If a panel is taking too long that's because I said: Now this panel has to look cool so I'll slow it down.
However sometimes pages don't turn out as I wanted them. But baybe, 4 times a week - I still upload it.

Yes, my first page. That's what I get for trying to draw a complicated mess of hands when I can't really draw hands. Ahh well I'll get it done eventually and maybe even *gasp* update my comic so it has a page!
