Yes, I know how to drive a manual car, and I prefer them to automatics.

Congrats.
And I took my driving test on a manual; I've been driving manual since the late 80's. I just bought my first automatic, because my fiance' can't drive manual.

I did my test on an automatic, and my car is too, but I really wanted a manual... damn automatic take away about 2 seconds in the quarter mile... gonna get a bike soon, so whatever though.

I don't like driving a manual so much anymore. those children were awfuly sad when I crushed their gran. And I don't want to do that kind of thing. At least, not till the heat dies down...

I'm not even sure I've seen a car with automatic.

Are you serious? (and if you are, how the heck did that come to be?)

I have. They scare me. A lot.
No car should be the master of its own gears! It's wrong,
WRONG! >.<
Oh, and congratulations on the licence! Ever feel like touring the Kingdom be sure to stop by Richmond, we've got a park filed with deer ^___^

Well, quite serious. I did see a couple, but just a couple.
Automatic gears are quite a rare thing in Poland.
I'm not really sure why. I think it just sticks: everybody's driving manual, so you're taught using manual, and hence you buy manual, and that's why everybody's driving manual.
I practiced and passed the exam on manual, so if I had any desire to own a car I'd get manual too. They are more reliable, and stuff.
(Well, either that, or I'd get one of the hybrid drive cars, and I think they only come with automatic)

i do too, although my '98 Contour (standard) is far more fun to drive than my dad's 2003 Firebird (standard) since in the Firebird the shifting is so damn tight and close together it's easy to go from second gear to fifth, while in my Contour it's just so easy to pretend i'm not driving a car that i think looks horribly stupid

My driving record is sad, mostly because I don't have one. I got my permit about four years ago and have yet to get a license, let alone a car.

I don't really like manuals; maybe because our Land Rover Discovery has the worst manual transmission on the entire planet, and there's no way I' gonna drive our other manual trans car, my dad's BMW M3.
So I yam stuck with our Ford Bronco.
To bad SMG (sequential manual gearbox, or paddle shift; like Formula One cars have) is so expensive; and only avalible on super-cars like the newest BMW M3; the Maserati Coupe GT; the Lamborghini Murcielago; and the Ferrari 575M Maranello.
I bet it's pretty fun.
Shifting with no clutch.
The Land Rover's clutch slips vey bad.
Crunch.

I've been thinking getting a car with stick so I'd be the only one who could drive it in my family.

Bah. Driving an automatic is like trying to keep an over-eager horse in check.
Driving a manual is the opposite end of the spectrum.
The most embarassing things in all those tests is stalling and rolling down the hill...
