Avatars and Names: How'd You Come Up With Yours?
Avatars and Names: How'd You Come Up With Yours?
Alright, I know I've asked this before around 2 years back (I'm probably the second oldest 'spacer acting on the forum), but...
How did you come up with your current avatars and keen-usernames? What about previous usernames and avs? Here's mine:
Avatar: As insane as it sounds, it's actually a "plushie" angel Ian Curtis who's dancing around like he does in the concerts (facial expression included). He's drawn by me and was coloured and ink by my artist. You'll find him on the X'mas advert for These Days.
Username: I stole it off a Chameleons song that I liked very much. And it's not spelled wrong either - take a look at the "Strange Times" tracklist for information. Even worse, I like the band a lot.
Other names:
Herr X: Taken from an Ultravox song on their album Vienna. My nickname Albrecht came from an RPG character that I made up (also taken from Bernard Sumner 'cause I thought it sounded cool... anyone notice a pattern?).
Maladroit: I personally like this username the best - not taken from any song, but it describes me quite well. Uh...
Other avatars:
Circle Headed Guy with mohawk and sunglasses: I don't know where I came up with him. He was cute.
Me with sunglasses: An odd one that I made up from somewhere. I don't know why I'm wearing sunglasses at all, I hardly wear 'em. I did wear them at night once... bad idea. The leather jacket was cool - too bad it ripped up and stuff... it was 25 years old though.
Now you know what a sick demented (80's music freak) I am.

The avatar is a character from my strip. I can't say his name because it's my keenspace password, and I don't know how to change it. I'm not real bright.
My nick goes back about ten years. It's a play on words. It's just a thing. It means about as much to me now as does the word "chair".
I'm only curious to know if YarpsDat is supposed to be spelled backwards, and if so have you seen Jenny Spray's site? Just an odd thought.
Also does the eye keep changing, or am I trippin'?

<b> User Name </b>
My user-name was taken from my personality, i'm faceless to most people. (you know not-well-known...UNknown, read the sig). Also I like to think i'm stealthy...
<b> Old Nicknames </b>
Pheonix > Pheo > Pheo X
Mason > Macey > Mace > Mace Windu (my mates are Star Wars nuts)

Usually War, had to use Digital War here. Why am I called War? There's no real reason, it just came about as an accident one day, and the name stuck.

Previous avatars have mostly been of me.

LAGtheNoggin - Derived from L.A.G (my brother's Doom II call name was K.I.G so I followed the trend), then went to LAG, then LAGtheModeller when I became a 3D Artist and then LAGtheNoggin when I started drawing my comic, Noggin.
I'm also known as Cpl. LAG (most first person shooters) and Cmdr. LAG (most strategy games), say "hi!" if you ever see me online.
Avatar
New Years 2004 avatar of my main comic character Noggy, based very roughly on me, as a few oldies know I'm rather fond of a few too many drinks so I'm keeping it for a while. Other than that I sometimes use a cut down version of a picture of me wearing my Stahlhelm and waving a very cheap plastic Union Jack I found on the tube; Usually on WW2 or small arm related forums.
Old User Names
Raptor (when I was 9) Killer (when I was 11 and played too much Duke Nukem 3D) L.A.G (when I was 12 and got ish good at Duke Nukem 3D) and the rest: LAGtheModeller, LAGtheNoggin, Cpl. LAG and Cmdr. LAG I've used since Half-Life arrived.

When my Italian relatives came over to the US some generations back, the family name became "Sortelli", which is apparently unique to our family because there ain't no other Sortellis out there that we've ever found, but there are some close spellings.

Its origins are from "Cannon Fodder" a very old videogame i really like (as much as Metal Slug, i guess

I never had other usernames (apart from "Hokum" when i joined a IRC server where "Jops" was already in use).

My real world nickname is Indy. On video games, I'd put 'nd' on the top score bits. I liked the nick "indybuda" better, but it crapped out on me on these boards. My avatar is a monkey with glowy eyes. I am that monkey! OOK!!!

<b>VileTerror</b> - this has been my name since the Dawn. I intend for it to be my name until the end.
<b>ArchVileTerror</b> and <b>ImpousVileTerror</b> were both created originally on ezboard to get around banning issues. I use them here in an attempt to divide post count, *information missing*, and to keep people less suspicious of my true plans. The good ol' classic misdirection, GLEE!
This avatar image is that of Mel Scarlet. Mel Scarlet is a character who is introduced in my comic around the 4th or 5th season. He is also known as The Pissed Scientist (for two reasons).

My Username?
Alas! I cannot tell you... for to do so would be to plague your poor innocent heart by my wretched misery.
It is a terrible secret that is mine alone to bear, and one that shall never be revealed due to my dark, hideous, hideous past that will forever haunt my dreams and that I can only, hope to forget...
And my Avatar?
It's Boovock.
Consider that an incentive to read my comic.

Phalanx was the name of my first Diablo character on battle.net. She later became the heroine of my first fantasy story, and then my Keenspot forum nickname. That was back in 2000.
I dropped it for a while. Then when I registered for a Keenspace account, I wanted it to match with my Keenspot one, so now I find myself back with the same handle I had almost four years ago.
Other Handles
Ping (My real name, so not really a handle)
Pinky

Jin, the main character of my comic. She blinks! *evil*
I have fun modifying the picture every now and then. Right now she's wearing a cheong sam for Chinese New Year.
