Violence... It's coming for you.

Post by Booger »

[begin pre-promotional bragging]

Just a heads up. My new webcomic titled Violence will rock your world. I should have my approval email any day now....

I already have 50 episodes worth of backstory drawn up. The comic is getting rave reviews in the forum where I've been posting it (the thread I've been posting it in has over 7000 views and climbing). Once I get the site up, the sky's the limit. Look out Penny Arcade, watch your ass PVP... Violence is coming to town.

Violence is the name of a coffee shop where video game characters hang out when they're off work. It tends to draw the lesser known characters, as the more affluent ones can afford to go to better places.

[/end pre-promotional bragging]

p.s. I know it's probably bad form to talk about a comic when the site isn't even up yet. I'm just getting excited, so please pardon my indulgence.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaw!

I think you have to be a registered member of the Seriously! forums to view the comics I've already posted (unless you want me to email some to you or something).

You can check out the thread at http://forums.seriouscommunity.com/show ... genumber=1 if you're curious.

Uhh...yeah.

I don't know if it'll top Penny Arcade or PvP, it just seems like another video-game based swear-fest type comic.

It's just...you know, people plug on these boards all the time. Just about everyone has a webcomic so we see them a lot. I don't mean to sound mean, but I don't think it's really too much special...I read what they said on the boards, and well...uh...it's hard to say.

Hey, New Traditionalists was the same way, when I posted the first four strips on the boards everyone loved them. Good luck with your comic, I hope it does well.

Thanks. Yeah, I may be overexaggerating a bit when I talk about it topping Penny Arcade. But a guy's gotta dream, don'tcha know.

I just hope it does well.

Hooly shiiat! I read through come of the comments...they said it ought to be syndicated, put into Unreal 2003, printed out and it's one of the best webcomics out there. And everyone thinks it's genius!

It almost reminds me of Movie Comics in a subtle sort of way.

Does anybody think that, with one post, Dave the Insane is the exact same person as booger?

...Well, it's just a thought.

lol, I'm not quite that underhanded. Though I did ask him to come here from another forum and testify on my behalf... so I suppose it IS kinda underhanded of me.

Well, I'm glad it's not another sprite comic, which is what I was afraid of when you mentioned video game characters. I'm sure you'll do well.

Best of luck.

See, at first I thought this thread was titled "Violence, it's coming FROM you", and I thought, "well, yes it is", but then I reread it and thought "why is violence coming for me?? What did I ever do? And then I remembered all those old ladies in the home a few weeks back... :o

lol, aside from the comic, there's a reason that I'm as popular as I am over there. But I don't need to get into that here, it isn't relevant in this place. I'd like to think that at least part of my popularity stems from my wit and charm, rather than my accomplishments and associations.

(guess I'll find out when my comic goes live, eh)

I'm just another Seriously! forum member coming over to help booger pimp out his strip... nothing against how booger promoted it, but it seemed to give some people the wrong idea about the strip. Yes, it includes lesser known video game characters, but I wouldn't call it a gamer strip (at least, not to the extent of having all the jokes in the comic understandable only if you have a considerable knowledge of games.) Most of the characters were never in a video game. It's almost like calling Ozy and Millie a nature strip because the characters are animals. Or something.

And yeah, explaining the huge hype created over it on the Seriously! forums... it's my personal opinion that the forums there are too nice, and it is sometimes hard to get completely honest opinions about something. And if you knew some of the members there, you'd know if they are reckless exagerattors (sp?) or quick to jump on the latest bandwagon. [Content deleted, too much information released]

Oh, and Dave and Booger are separate people... heheheh... but I can't blame you for thinking they are one person :)

Well, anyway, keenspace is free, so it's really no skin off your noses. Like the comic if you want, give it a chance and try to see it beyond "video-game based swear-fest type comic..." I see that as pretty funny, as there is no specific video game it's based on :P

Heheh... just when booger says he won't go into why he's popular and people like him, I explain it... sort of. Ironic, ain't it?

Well...there is a lot of video-game based humor, so that's it.

By the way, I read through the entire thread. I admit, it's not a bad webcomic. I've seen much worse. But you see, people are calling it one of the best ever webcomics out there, but on a board where everyone has a comic, you'll face a lot of criticism because these people know comics.

I mean...read through some of the other Keenspace comics, like Final Draft or Elf Only Inn or DunnBoyz or McDuffies or something like that. And then imagine if they were the voice of Serious Sam and posted on that board... :)

Yeah, I'm braced for the worst. All I can do is hope that the world at large will accept 'Violence' with half as much vigor as the Serious Sam community. Still, if I didn't think it was funny, I wouldn't be attempting to get it hosted.

Really, it's more about coffee culture than video games. Sure, there's a few washed up game characters that appear in the strip, and the lead character is a gamer, but really it's about human interaction. It's about how best friends can abuse the 5H17 out of each other and only strengthen their friendship from the abuse.

Oh, and it's about a badger that escaped from hell by hiding in someone's ass.

And if that isn't original, nothing is.
