Advertising Anyone?

Post by lightbulbs »

I asked in a PM a while back to the person that wrote the guidelines for posting in the Comic Pitching zone if I could please pitch my comic there, even though it hasn't been up that long. Part of the guideline states there has to be at least 20 pages already in the comic's archive. In the case of my comic that will be some time next year. The comic only updates once a week. Already the FTP has comics going all the way up to Dec. 26th in it and I still have more to put in, this comic doesn't have an end in sight. So can I pitch it here in this forum? .. It's pretty unknown right now ..I have no clue if it has any readers at all :( .

Also Would some one do the kind favor of linking to it? I have a links page up & I have the site connected to a few other web comics. If some one could do me the favor in turn I'd really appreciate it :) .

My advice - be patient.
20 comics is a firm rule on the pitching around here and trying to circumvent that would just end in locked topics.
And honestly with only 4 comics so far you wouldn't be doing yourself any favours by jumping the gun, you want enough of an archive for a new reader to binge on.

Seconding what schoob said. You want enough pages to hook a reader.

It's annoying when you have a new comic and want to show everyone as fast as you can, but if you don't have much to go on, few will stick around.

The reasoning behind the 20 comics rule is that if you're inviting people to read your comic, there has to be enough comics to, you know, make a judgment on whether they want to follow it or not. If I stumble on a comic with five pages in the archive, that's not enough to make any sort of impression on me. Unless it's the best first five pages ever, I won't be interested, I won't bookmark it or anything. I'll just forget about it, so advertising now isn't really of any use to you.
Like others, I understand your impatience, but eh - think of it as a test of your dedication. :wink:

What McD said. Its hard to judge a comic that has just started. I mean you want to people to like your comic and get into it, right? Well give it a bit of time and wait until you have some substance so they can.

<KittyKatBlack> You look deranged. But I mean that in the nicest way possible. ^_^;
