I only draw because I get headaches otherwise. And sometimes even with that. But you don't want to hear about that. But you read it just now so it's too late.

I still kinda draw the comic I started with. I'm on hiatus but not a long one.

I've been doing Vapor Lock since before Dim Bulb went online. Troubled Times (which started shortly thereafter) may have died the day I broke my hand....we'll see.

(Hmm, I didn't count that one as one of my comics...) Well, Komi's up, but I think the Grind might be wearing her down a little... Whenver she has spare time to draw yet another comic, I suppose. :)

Also, PAL, I'm not sure why, but something about your avatar makes me a wee bit uncomfortable....I can't quite put my finger on it...

Is it the teeth, or the banana? I prolly won't keep it long. I like changing things up every now and then.

update or not to update??

Post by Kissingkerie1 »

Well, I was late, but I did finally do it.

It wasn't as bad as I thought, although I felt lazy about drawing it. My passion seems to come and go, usually coinciding with my other project. As the other project is new, I'm obviously excited about it so maybe I can only handle being excited by one comic at a time.

I like reading the replies here from all the people still passionate about whatever strip they're doing. Well I was pretty darned passionate about Kissing Kerie for a long time. It's my waning passion that's the problem.

Plenty of ideas. Plenty of story arcs. Plenty of time to draw them, etc, just maybe not as excited about it as I used to be.

Usually when ppl stop it just stops. Rarely do I see someone actually get to a certain place, an ending, and THEN stop. Anyway, I think if/when I do stop, it'll be with some sort of ending in place, not a cliffhanger, just some kind of conclusion.

And maybe I respect those people who have started and killed a few projects a little more, because they know when to stop and begin again. You know, like I learned all I could from that, now let's learn something else, something new.

It weirds me out that I agonized over taking a two-week hiatus when lots of authors throw around "a few months hiatus" like it's nothing. Around day nine of my two weeks, I suddenly found the bug and got back into it. I don't know why I started to burn out on my comic, but I'm back into it.

Of course, I can't think of anything else I would ever want to do as a comic strip than the premise I've already developed. I sort of set up the story to be open-ended like that. Anything I can think of that fits into a webcomic format (because I'm a writer first, and most of my ideas work better in a literary rather than visual format) can pretty much find its way in some form into Oops, Nevermind.

I also have an out for myself. I know how the strip would end if I wanted to end it. Then again, if I get so fed up with the comic that I want to end it entirely, I foresee myself stopping entirely, midstory. I hope it never comes to that. I'm having too much fun.

Y'know, you're right, even if it's not what you were saying. Why should I agonize over whether to keep the strip going or not? If I find my passion has returned at some point, I can always pick it back up.

Is it strange to feel guilt over leaving your characters in the middle of something though? lol
