Who actually owns Gen Chan?

Something I've always wondered about, in the Chan Family portrait, what's the yellow one (Sharp-Chan I guess it is) the mascot of?

Yea, I was wondering that too.

Also, I got word from Kelly Price (the only CG e-mail I could get). She says it was ok to use her as well. I told her about this thread. Hopefully some "official" word from CG will add to this whole thing as well.

Actually, I'm male.

But my "offical" two cents is: The community created GenChan, as well as the previous mascot SpaceChan (or was that Kassandra?). While CG has adopted her as our mascot, the community offically owns the character.

I see no problem letting Jenny Everywhere meet GenChan.

You referring to this? I seem to recall her being a mascot for a name (which I can't remember) that got rejected in favour of "Comic Genesis", back when we were changing our name from Keenspace.

(They're both little in the picture because we didn't know which name would become official at the time.)

Ack! Sorry!

Well, it's still good to know the "official" word on the whole thing.

And I'll let everyone here know when this scene comes up in the Jenny Strip. Again, probably next month. I can't give away too many details, otherwise I'd give away the story. It's possible I'll make more than a single scene/panel with her, and actually have a bit more involvement with her for an entire strip.

actually, once a major plot point is revealed, I'll come back here before Gen-Chan's cameo, and I'll ask some more questions that could add a bit more to her personality, or at least her character traits.... we'll see.

That picture of the chan family came before the name Comic Genesis was selected.
At the time we already went trough a selection and nailed down the new name for keenspace to two possibilities: ComicGenesis and Sharp Space.
Starline did the picture with both the new possible mascots (both portraied as little kids exactly 'cause neither was official yet).

Then, the name ComicGenesis was selected. So Gen-Chan "grew up" and Sharp-Chan was never seen anymore.

When i made my version, it was soon after the name was picked and, right because of Starline's picture, I kept the blue theme.

If the choiche would have been for SharpSpace, I surely would have made her with a yellow outfit (probably something vaguely reminding of the Bride from Kill Bill, just to go along with the "sharpness", since i'd have had her holding a blade of some sort).

Either way, i was goign to have her wear goggles... heh, i just couldn't help it. XD
