Re: Drastic!
That reminds me. One character magically had hair in the middle of a story. The original design never fit well with me, but I wanted to start drawing.Cope wrote:Uh...I changed my protagonist's hairstyle once.

We did add gay, due to popular demand. There wasn't any to begin with.
We also changed the title twice, our archive style, several of the character designs and about six of the characters' genders. And we added eight new characters to our original "line-up" of six. Most of these changes aren't obvious though to readers since our 2x upload schedule means that if there's trouble ahead, we have time to revise, rewrite & redraw before anything happens.

Before I started talking to editors at Universal, "C'est la Vie" only had Mona and M. Smokey in the strip. They didn't do anything, go anywhere, and there were no backgrounds. All they did was talk about what was going on in the world, complained, and exchanged various ramblings.
Now I have honest to god story lines and way more characters.

well, for anyone that actually reads my comic. it's been evolving for a while. the biggest change was when i went to color. and now, if i ever finish editing my script, i'll start updating with an entirely new direction. I think it's cool to change things around and mix it up. Most of us aren't getting paid, and most of us don't have millions of adoring fans, and that offers us a kind of liberty that we should abuse. although, maybe i'm just trying to rationalize the pandora's box i opened.

Okay, this is a very late response to my avatar, where Jenny looked like a hunch-back bird.
Thanks alot, Col! Now I had to change it because my avatar was freaking me out!
So, instead, I give you, a badly drawn blue snake, that I didn't drew.
P.S., that art, which a hunch back bird, was hilarious! Thanks! It made my day.

My comic is only at its 15th comic (at this point), but it has already improved a great deal and its going to continute to improve. I have learned so much about drawing, art and comic design from doing my comic. My comic has definitely given me the opportunity to refine my drawing skills and my story writing capabilities. In a little while, I'll hit my stride with the comic and everything will be peaches.

I moved into full colour a few months ago and recoloured all of this year's strips. That's the only major change I've incorporated so far. When I find the spare time I'll go back and probably recolour the first 80 strips as well to bring them all into line.
As for characters and story and setting and stuff...a lot of the content is still pretty well as it was originally going to be from the plots and ideas I had from the original musical play. The designs of the characters have become a little more defined over the period, but their personalities have only really developed, not been altered. Same really goes for the style and general direction of the strip as well. It's still following the road I wanted it to from the beginning.
I don't think I'll be 'adding gay' though...I think in my case that'd be just a token for token's sake.
