Originally I thought tagboards were the best, for the aforementioned reasons (easy to use, instant gratification, people are lazy), but I agree about getting more thorough discussion of your comic through a forum. And, of course, I always enjoy thorough discussion of my comic, but only in the most narcissistic of ways.

So I'm all for the tagboard/forum combo. As far as the blog, I think those are best for people who need a way to keep their fanbase up on when the next update is coming, and why it's late. At least, that's the only time I ever read those.

You're secretely a member of the Republican Party, and you like most FOX TV shows.
There. Two nasty sentences about you. Of course, they don't have to be TRUE...---Al

I like my forum because it doubles as a news board for the comic. Sure, people have to click a link to get there, and register, and... hmm. Maybe that's why only two people post to my forum.

But I'm trying to keep my front page uncluttered, which is why I don't have a tagboard or a news board.
Ancient relic of a by-gone era.

I think the next time someone asks me why there is no Elf Only Inn forum, I'm going to link to this.

I really didn't mean for that question to be rethorical. That EOI had a terrible experience with forumites, without a shade of a doubt. But some people also manage to work together with the kids in order to make the forum something that works.
I think my answer to your rhetorical question would be: I'd like to see what it's like.

You've got a point there. I'm a fan of spartan, although my front page is looking cluttered these days. So the quandary lies as:

1) have a tagboard, clutter up your front page and get lots of shallow comments.
or
2) have a forum, free up your front page and get a few shallow comments.

I think I'll just drop them all and become a hermit.
