Hey, I remember Oregon Trail! We had it on the class computer in gr 4, and when everyone was finished their work we would fight over who go to play it. Since I was not a pushy kid, I only got to play once :(

Even as a kid, I thought it odd that someone could die from just falling off the wagon. What, were they crossing over lava or something? If you fall off, just stand back up and get on. Yeesh, pansies.

Dude... wagons go 80 miles an hour! No wonder they died!

Usually when someone is from another country, i.e. Serbia, they have some difficulties with English if it wasn't their first language. Amazing as it may seem, English is the hardest language to learn. Of course, not the bastardized English we learn here. Other countries teach the stuffy stuck up sounding stuff.
Now, maybe English is McDuffies first language, but that's besides the point. I've learned to give the benefit of the doubt to anyone who's current location isn't an English speaking country.

That's because they're American.

I bought a copy of it at a garage sale recently. They updated it for the Windows OS in the early 1990's. I remember playing it a lot as a kid.

I knew a poem once about how hard the English language was...at the end of each line was an English word that could be pronounced in various ways, yet spelt the same as other words in the line that didn't actually rhyme with it. It was quite clever. I'll have to see if I can dig it up.

English is not my first language, I've been learning it since fourth grade. "Loose" is one of a few common mestakes I make. In my defense, I don't make those often mestakes like "your" instead of "you're" and such.
Frankly, when I see a person typing without interpunction, shortening words AOL style and generally speaking exactly like some of Sortelli's mock characters, I'm annoyed. Otherwise I think it active discussion like on forums, there's a point in noting mestakes only when they are funny.

Yay languages!
Yes, I'm very glad I didn't have to learn English as a second language. Though I wouldn't say it's the hardest language, I can only imagine the horrors that this franco-germanic monstrosity breeds.

Drat, that reminds me. I need to get back to studying Japanese. Not having an actual class anymore has taking a lot of motivation away.

Fortunately I found out today that my Japanese class didn't get cancelled. Yay! Which is good cause my motivation is lacking too.

I don't mind so much if someone makes a mistake on the IM, because they're typing fast.

But if someone DARES make a blatant stupid mistake (your/you're, they're/there/their, etc etc...) more than once in a post, they're DEAD.
Who are you calling a super-small bean you need a magnifying glass to see?!!!

This would be so much better if I updated it....which I did....but then I stopped again!

Same here. And apostrophes. If someone puts an apostrophe in a plural, I want to kick their head off.

English is the language with the most exceptions to spelling and pronouncation.

I'd say toss the arabic alphabet and learn Shavian.

That is, once I learn Shavian.

Personally, I'm proud of our horribly weird language. If I've learnt that, surely I can do anything!
