Whoa now Pin. You misunderstood me.RPin wrote:There were tons of wonderful and popular Space comics that were denied a place on Spot before and you know it, Ping. But it was our bitching, on the thread and before it that made him go further on that decision.
Of course you're right. I have been careless with my wordings indeed! When I said complaining I was thinking of pointless complaining.I dunno... Maybe it's because I have this bitchy nature (I'm even worse than Ghastly), I think it's unfair to classify complaining as doing nothing. I too got up on my ass to do something for Space, and I already told you how I was interested into filling the designer position of the Space Wranglers. But experience has shown me that bitching and whinning brings out more results than not, as long as are reasonable about it.
Pffft! Don't be so determinedly disagreeable, you customer!Ghastly wrote:Any new name we get is still going to be a trademark of Keen and thus they will not allow us to use it without authorization. A new name isn't going to fix any of our problems. It'll just mean people won't neccessarily think of Keenspot and us as being part of the same parent organization.
Ah, but that exactly is the thing. Without bitching and whining, he'd still be sleeping on job, and they might've missed CYS and EOI. To rephrase your last statement, if we didn't want CYS and EOI SPOTTED, we wouldn't make them do it. Or something like that.Phalanx wrote:Whoa now Pin. Indeed, I agree that Keenspot was really sleeping on the job for some time, and they lost a lot of good comics as a reuslt, but what we did with that thread was make SURE they knew about the comics and why they should be spotted. Like you so eloquently put it, we made them get up on their asses to the invitations which otherwise might have taken god-knows-how long.
But my point is, if they didn't want to SPOT CYS or EOI, we couldn't have made them do it, not with all the bitching in the world.
Tons? I'd say at most a few dozen, which is approximately 1% of the KS user/customer/employee/whatever base. KS's covers such a wide range of userloads that no single system will make everyone happy. There were tons of wonderful and popular Space comics that were denied a place on Spot before and you know it, Ping. No one's disputing that. But what I was saying that, Keenspot did not Spot a comic just because of bitching and whining. The bitching and whining attracted the attention, but ultimately the decision to spot was done elsewhere and on their own.McD wrote:Ah, but that exactly is the thing. Eh? *is dizzy*To rephrase your last statement, if we didn't want CYS and EOI SPOTTED, we wouldn't make them do it. Or something like that.

Improving the technical infrastructure, however, is something that will benefit everybody. So lets focus our attention there rather than symbolic issues.

I'd've thought anyone with a modicum of sense could have worked it out from Spot and Space.RandomActs wrote: With that said, as to potential names, I really like SpotFree, but it sounds a little petty. I really like KeenFree. I think that would cut down the amount of confusion (which I don't feel there is a lot of).
"Hey what's the one that has free hosting?"
"Why, KeenFREE of course..."
Just my opinion.
