Re: Livejournal Thread 4: Can't kill what's already dead ins
I think mine is one of those laptops where you can't remove the keys (gee, what a great design), or at least can't remove them with any hope of it getting back together nicely. I might still try, but I'm going to order a replacement keyboard first just in case so that way if something goes wrong, I'm not screwed (since it's the point in the semester where i'll be doing quite a bit of typing soon.... bleh)
I'm getting kind of used to it for now but I'm worried I'm giong to develop an advanced carpal tunnel. Ugh, sticky keys, such an unpleasant feeling!!

Man I screwed up my laptop big time... one of screws' heads became so worn out that I can't unscrew it with anything now, and I've tried a coupla dozens different kinds of screwdrivers... hence I can't open it and clean the dust from inside, hence it warms up and turns off every once in a while.

This reminds me, I convinced my brother to vacuum his laptop the other day, cause he doesn't do that often and a fucking dust bunny came out

Depending of the size of the dustbunny, he could have made it into a pet.

I tried several cooling pads and finally found one that does decent job, but it's not like turning-off never happens anymore.

I see. you could always stick it in the icebox when its not in use.
JUST KIDDING! Don't actually do that.

Drill out the bolt, then use a tap drill to make an inner thread one size larger and use a bolt with that thread. Problem solved.
Provided, of course, that you have a tap drill and a bolt of the next size. And that there is room for the next size hole. And that you do not drill into a circuit.

Re: Livejournal Thread 4: Can't kill what's already dead ins
After making a long response to something on my laptop, something happened and the damned thing lost the whole post. Even worse, it was at the end of my lunch at work so I couldn't rewrite it until several hours later when I got home. So, in a fit of rage I kinda...disciplined it... In the process I knocked off several keys from the keyboard. Not really wanting to spend a lot of money in an already slow POS laptop I figured I'd try fixing them myself. So, I took the wires and little innards off the backs of the keys, superglued little cardstock pads on top of the little nipples, and superglued the keys onto the pads. Some of the keys can be a little wonky, but it worked! Still using it currently. Apparenty these StinkPads are built pretty solid.

Is it also a solution to people who won't answer when you ask them what is it? It's not. How can it be a solution if you don't know what it is, but when you find out what it is, then the problem is already resolved without it.Laemkral wrote:Along with duct tape, the solution to all of life's problems.McDuffies wrote:What's that?

It's clear he was referring to chess somehow.

Re: Livejournal Thread 4: Can't kill what's already dead ins
My landlord let me know I mysteriously have like 500 USD of missed payments somehow and I need to get it in the next three days. unfortunately I just paid rent the day before she informed me of this. And my 9-5 pays not til the end of the month, and I been outrageously failing at finding freelance gigs this month. Hopefully I can figure something out and not get booted out. that would suck.

This is why you never pay in cash, and always request a receipt for the times that you do. Good luck.Phact0rri wrote:My landlord let me know I mysteriously have like 500 USD of missed payments somehow and I need to get it in the next three days. unfortunately I just paid rent the day before she informed me of this. Actually, McDuffies, why don't you take a wide-banded rubberband and stick it on top of the screw, and then press the screwdriver head on top of that? That's always what my dad would do to take out stripped screws. It might save you the C4. :3
EDIT: Though for all I know (this being two weeks ago and all) you might have already fixed it by then!

AntiSemitic vandalism in my boyfriend's town. Seriously, the fucking fuck. It is the 21st century and we live in fucking New Jersey. I guess I'm sheltered, but seriously? This bullshit still goes on?
I just don't get it. I just don't. I never have and I don't think I ever could.
