Hard sell looping Chicago into "any part of Illinois" really.

Yeah...it's really not like the rest of Illinois at all. Except maybe for political corruption. ;D

Keep in mind that the outlying suburbs and smaller towns around St. Louis (i.e. where the first few cookouts took place) aren't part of the city's statistical derivations. Long ago, the county divorced itself from the city (or vice versa depending on who you talk to). What you have is a report of the goings on in the city proper only. And, even though they weren't in the city limits, the Kolters have a number of, um, interesting stories about living in University City not far from the St. Louis city limits.
Yep. The City itself sucks. Trust me on that. That's why the hell we're in the burbs. Loved the loft but hated the fact we were like a few hundred feet into the City proper. Most of the stuff you hear about is from the North Side aka You Don't Wanta Be There After Dark. Have a local friend who used to live in that area. Let's just say she'll stay over and I'l take her to work in the morning just to avoid driving in that area. Also Ryan can tell you stories about the dealings near his old work place in the City.

Also yes, Detroit sucks. Ryan can vouch for that. He's up there for work 4 days a week with his new job.

I dislike chicago and I don't like Illinois and any differences between the two doesn't change my opinion of either

Just saying, your dislike of large metropolitan areas and soybean production aren't all that related.

Why?
short answer is they're really lousy neighbors.
they've caused a lot of social and economic problems for us (wisconsin) and have a smug fuck you attitude about it and as the line between our populations gets more blurred the problems get worse.

McDuffies wrote:I'm having trouble comparing it to the state here. There are certainly parts of Belgrade I wouldn't like to be caught in after dark... then again I tended to walk home half-drunk from all kinds of hellholes, so there's a lot of luck, and stick-to-the-wide-avenues involved.
I tended to think that Belgrade was equally safe at any given time of the day, since some of more shocking crimes happened during daytime, and in rather unexpectedly public places.
Compton was really famous in the 90's west coast hiphop was all about compton. A fun fact. compton doesn't have a police department, as insurance is to high.

Not as much like mad max as you would expect. *laughs* usually if things get bad, other counties will send swats and cops in. And there's State troopers. And I suppose bad in Compton is pretty messed up in other areas.

Sometimes people don't have anywhere else to go.
