This is the hallway of the Transportation School. I walk it every day.


This is the front of the school. I work here. And by work I mean get bored to death with Powerpoint.


"Nothing Happens Until Something Moves". So true. All the hooah kickass door busting Rangers in the world do you no good if they don't have food to eat, clothes to wear, and bullets to shoot, and I get it to them. Logistics makes the world go round, bitches.

Secured those all down with chains we did. Pretty damn cool loading it all up and then loading it off.

The museum. Old school transpo, yo.


LOTS. Logistics Over the Shore. There also is a giant GIANT version of that parked in front of the museum. Built off the "If it ain't broke..." philosophy.


Before there was Aviation, there was Transportation. Yep, Army pilots used to be Transportation.


Korea. Kiowa Warrior. The heart and soul of MEDEVAC, made famous by M*A*S*H.


Yes. We have the jetpack.


We also have this....whatever the hell it is.


Vietnam. Gun trucks. You are looking at the one and ONLY surviving gun truck from that era. The "Eve of Destruction"...from the 39th Transportation BN, my future unit.


Inside "Eve of D". This became the standard design towards the end of the conflict.


Desert Shield/Storm. We moved more cargo (men and materials) in the first 30 days of this war than in the first 30 days of ANY previous fight. It became a logistical nightmare because the combat arms guys screwed it all up. If not for a General who started as a Transpo officer, LTG Pagonis, things would have been much worse.


Look familiar? Similar design as the truck from before...but this baby is modern. Yep, Soldiers in Iraq figured out real fast what worked, the same way they did in Iraq and what worked then works now. These trucks are no longer used due to a Theater Command policy after one rolled over. HMMWVs roll over all the time...but we still use them... Interesting fact, this particular truck is painted up in homage to a truck from Vietnam because of a connection between the two crews.


Port operations training. This is a mockup of a RO/RO ship, a container ship, and one other type. RO/RO means roll on/roll off.


Modern PORTS vessel. Army owns this.


Tug boat. Army owns these too.


I forget what acronym this one is. But we own these also. They are badass cargo vessels. We crew them with 1/4 the crew it'd take the Navy to do the job.


And that's a RO/RO. A REAL one. I want you to imagine a giant parking garage. Bigger. BIGGER I SAID. Now put it into a boat. Tie downs for chains EVERYWHERE. That's a RO/RO.


Dining in. I was a designated driver.


Browing M2 .50 caliber machine gun, virtually unchanged since WW2. Oldest item in the US Army inventory.


This is what it feels like to sit behind one.

I'm a badass. I love how I look in armor with my gloves on.


My class is filled with badasses. This is one who is also my friend.

And THAT is how you do it people. Sorry not more of me, I'm usually behind the camera these days rather than in front. But generally, same hair cut, same clothes these days so not much worth showing of me.

Trains, planes, ships, and trucks. If it makes things move from A to B, we've got our hands on it. Railway operations are a small part of Transportation, only a couple select units work with it during peacetime (Major movements on a world war scale...that's another story), but even still I need to know because it's a common method of moving units from Fort to Port.

Then I came to Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) and was put in charge of it. Now I get to drive the train whenever the hell I want, so if you hear the whistle around post, it's probably me."
