I have a few CG sites updating, but they're kind of novelty sites. My serious comics are all under the MT hat.hallonpress wrote:Exactly. WBK was never a CG comic, but I post here anyway.K-Dawg wrote:I never understand why it's assumed if your site leaves CG that you must stop posting in the forums.
Good luck to you, anyway, fecundity.

Heh, I wonder if some of us enjoy the programming aspect more than the comic itself sometimes. In that case I understand your decision. Good luck to you.fecundity wrote:I wanted to be able to have two comic titles running at the same time, with the most current comic (whichever that is) appearing on the front page. I already had automated archives and an RSS feed, so it saved some trouble to have one script handle everything.
Also, I enjoy programming. For me it was like a home improvement project. There was only so much remodelling I could do while using space on Comic Genesis. (For example, I can now put the navigation buttons in the model of a day's content.)
Guess we're all pros then. No "keenspace" in this URL...Risky wrote:As long as the url isn't "keenspace", you're pro.
Will it be a shonen-ai flogging? Because then it couldn't be on Comic Leviticus.Black Sparrow wrote:Tenma, please report to the floor for some old-fashioned flogging.
...Or a furry flogging for that matter.

Huh. I actually ran into some anti-CG sentiment on another forum, where someone said that they wouldn't look at anything with a CG domain. I'm not quite sure why, I guess the figure that because it's free hosting that free = amateur effort?, is being on CG, on Webcomicsnation, or on your own ISP reallly considered a reflection on the professionalism of one's comic? A URL is just a URL, n'est-ce pas? Or am I naive to the ways of the world?
I said "Hey! I'm hosted on CG because I like people, and being a part of a community, and I bust my ass on my comic. So, Ppbbbtthhh!
Except for I was much more eloquent.
So, I guess there can be a stereotype there, but frankly, I'd rather be a part of a community of people than forging ahead on my own.

Because artists have been known throughout the ages for their vast monetary wealth with which to support their art. And buying a domain name is exactly the same as having artistic or storytelling talent.geekblather wrote:I actually ran into some anti-CG sentiment on another forum, where someone said that they wouldn't look at anything with a CG domain. If a lot of people have a preconceived notion about hossting services I guess we just have to counter-post when we see the sentiment expressed on another forum, and try to get our comics reviewed far and wide, and try to get more exposure in general. Like, starting weird comics collectives. Ahem.
I could understand someone saying "I only read comics on [Girlamatic, some similar site] because they have editorial oversight in choosing what appears there and I like their taste in comics." But if you see a nice banner but you won't click because it says CG, then you are clearly not intellectually prepared for the wonder that is my comic.
