Dutch! wrote:For about fifteen months I was watching a domain name of schoolspirit.com because it was continually under construction with nothing in it.

Just before I decided to get my own domain name, I checked it again, and it had been finished so I had no chance to take it anyway.

Seems it's a company that sells school supplies.

I think my use of the name is much better.
in high school (before i joined keenspace) i had an idea for a comic called "school spirits" about a group of ghosts that haunt a school, possess students, and generally create havoc. i only made one page of it though so it was just a doodle. I highly doubt I still have it but I remember that it was about a student being annoying so one of the ghost possessed him and made him vomit to death.

There's oodles and oodles of sites dealing with "strange happenings" involving ghosts or alien encounters people have had. Guess I made a good choice for the title of my comic. I've really got to get it going again, though. I used to be on the first page of a Google search, and now I could even find it. Serves me right. :-?

Reasoned Cognition is used as a quote in a few obscure references, but if you google Reasoned Cognition, 98% of what you get will be something about my comic. 7110 entries. :o

Blue Skunk is a breed of marajuana.

I did not know that when I named it Blue Skunk.

Boobs Ahoy is the name of a.... *gasp* ... porno. it was the sequel to the Boob Cruise or something...

no one saw that coming, right?

i didn't think to do a google search until i had completed like 7 pages, but anyways, i doubt they'd ever sue... i'd be really surprised if they even had a copywrite on the name... plus, it's not like i'm making any money off of it...

Niece Web is a unique enough name for it not to be confused with anything. When I did a googlesearch, the only stuff that popped up was links containing the words "Niece" and "Web", usually in the string "My Niece's Website" or something to that effect.

Ironically, I decided to go with Niece Web as the name of my comic because I googlesearched its original name "Nieces Pieces" and it turned out to be the name of a song by some emo band. Can't have that, can I?
This has been the Dark Spider...

There are a few poor schmoes who use Asianosity as a screenname for various things, and I'd feel bad for them but it wouldn't be in the spirit of the comic. :P

When I first started Oops, Nevermind I was competing in google with something on "urbanlegends.about.com" regarding a false report on the death of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. Ah, if only it was true. Anyway, I just checked and that entry is still second behind my comic.

Otherwise, there's a lot of google entries about people rescinding statements with the phrase "oops, nevermind". Google's got about 365,000 entries, so there might be something good in there, but I'm too lazy to look.

Other than that, I think I'm pretty unique.

Well, obviously the name "Zoology" is used a number of places...but as far as I know aside from my comic most things with "zoology" in the title actually revolve around the study of zoology.

mcDuffies is a Scottish name. Mostly well known for the bakery of the same name which is interesting because, not only my "mcDuffies" is a fast food restaurant, but also my family really do owes a bakery.

If you search "pimpette" on google, you get a lot of myspace/geocities/angelfire sites run by gangsta chicks who can't spell to save their lives.

If I search "laurel k" I get overrun by "Laurell K Hamilton" fansites.
Which is okay. Her books rule.

To be fair, no matter what name anyone comes up with for anything, it's also very likely going to be the name of a breed of marijuana.

Quite a few things are "So What?" related, however, the one that caught my atention a while back (when the comic was over a year old) was the song by Anti-Nowhere League, which was later covered by Metallica...

(BTW, this is supposed to be a comeback... :D )

My comic "Operation:NEKO" is apparently the perfect Japanenglish. Google only found three pages' worth for it, most of which are related to my comic. However, it did come up as the name of an otaku's personal webpage.

Apparently, "Black Sparrow" is the name of a military testing missile, an Air Force jet, and a popular-but-now-closed publishing company: "Black Sparrow Press."
This is going in my notebook titled "Things I Didn't Know about Surface Dwellers."

And Six Seconds is... well, okay, actually it appears to be the name of an group that teaches "emotional intelligence skills." It's also part of the name of all kinds of stuff (811,000 hits worth), and while our comic doesn't show up on the first page of a Google search - yet - a link to our profile on one of the web comic lists does. So that's nifty.
