Re: Livejournal-style Whining Thread 2.0
A city wide garage sale today = WIN! Ryan got a black trashbag full of clothing for TC from 6 months up to 3yrs for $7. Some of the outfits include nice brand names with tags still on. You can barely get one brand new outfit for that price! Also got two canvas bags full of books for a song.

Like, you literally had to sing for them? Because if so, that would be fabulous.

Nope. However, one of the most memorable garage sales we've been to was at a place that the couple where moving out of and selling the house. They had a $5 all you can carry on your person sale but with one condition - they had to take a picture of you. I swear you never know how much stuff you can carry and how stupid you can look for $5, especially Ryan. He looked like a cousin from Beverly Hills show. Pots and pans filled with books, a few stuff animals, purses, scarves and a big straw hat... The people left with great memories and a bunch of laugher for something that could have very heartbreaking.Bustertheclown wrote:Like, you literally had to sing for them? A three day weekend where your two month old is sick as a friggin DOG is *NOT* high on my fun list.
After 3 days, though, she's finally feeling better.
Of course, now *I'm* starting to feel like crap.
And I have to go back to work.
OH JOY.

Man, the issue with having EVERY Monday off is it always seems like FOREVER since I went to class.

Tristan caught his first cold because daddy cleaned his binkie by putting it in his mouth instead of running it under tap water. Daddy had a cold, but didn't know it yet. Tristan caught it.Netpoet wrote:A three day weekend where your two month old is sick as a friggin DOG is *NOT* high on my fun list.

Lots worse to have your 2-month old get a cold and know it was entirely your fault.
And, still have the cold yourself.

I got whooping cough when I was a couple months old.
Kids get sick and it sucks, but hey, at least they're building their immune systems here. I'd rather give my kid a cold than disinfect everything in his life, and he grows up with an immune system that's outdone by AIDs patients

That's part of the reason why we have Madison in daycare already. With Daniel, mommy spent 4 years at home with him. Kid NEVER EVER got sick, we had 4 years without any of us even catching a mild cold.
Then he started in daycare, and LITERALLY spent the next 2 years sick. Every single month, we were taking him to the doctor for sinus infections, bronchitis, even one bout of pneumonia.
He finally cleared up around 6 1/2 to 7 years of age, and this year's been pretty good so far. So his immune system finally caught up... and we're hoping to avoid the same scenario with Madison.

We've been taking Tristan out in public a lot, and haven't been at all anal about disinfecting above and beyond normal cleanliness. We're also of the opinion that if you keep a kid antiseptically clean all the time, that it doesn't help them (and our doctor agrees).
Re: Livejournal-style Whining Thread 2.0
Since we're speaking of cute kids...
Tristan cut his SECOND tooth today, right next to the other one. So the two bottom ones - directly under where the the upper front teeth - are in.

Wait until they start getting you sick, instead.
And give you head lice.

my nephew turned 1 today. SiL's fiancee bought one of those big inflatable bounce castles that are big enough for adults. Good time had by all.

She already got me sick, Merc.Mercury Hat wrote:Wait until they start getting you sick, instead.

Of course, she also got her older brother sick, and I'm taking him to the doc today with a 101 degree fever. Colds in him tend to go STRAIGHT to the sinuses and sit in for infections fast, so I'm expecting purchasing some antibiotics today yet again. Sigh.

Tristan hasn't gotten me sick, but I may need a tetanus shot for my finger if he keeps gnawing at it with those sharp little baby teeth.

or a completely new finger entirely. Once he's worked his way out of his crib, you're going to wake up one day and he'll have gnawed your fingers down to nubs.
You watch.

Edit: oh, and at first glance, your new avatar looked to me like a string of dog poo. Not sure why. I'm on medicine, I blame that.

I was seeing it too when I scroll over your avatar, because of the colour and spiral shape... it doesn't look much like it when you get a better look.Rkolter wrote:I thought it was a cool piece of wood artwork that looked like ABOL.
