Miss/Mr/Thing Comicgenesis 2007: Enter submissions here.
It depends on how human-like they look.mvmarcz wrote:um something just struck me....would my characters count as Mr/Miss or things?
Just to give an example: Daisy Mae is in the "Miss" competition, since aside from her head, the rest looks human enough.
Lemongrass is competing for "Thing" since, even if Ataraxia referred to the hampster-volet as a she, she's basically a ball of fur with arms and feet (no offense meant here).
In any case, the questions are the same for everyone, so you just go ahead and post your entry, i'll worry about sorting them out when i set up the poll.
well this is what they look like:

I'd vote Poppet for Mr. CG. He's all man. He likes swords and once he cut himself a mouth just to speak up for a lady. That's fricken butch.Jops wrote:Wow, very borderline...
Well, the girl puppet is definitely a "miss", while i'd put the oval-head one for "thing".
The rag cat would be awesome for Thing CG. It could eat that vole thing for breakfast.
Oh well, let's say that Poppet is so borderline he could possibly be entered for either thing or Mr! If it makes you more comfortable to enter him for the Mr competition, it's fine to me.mvmarcz wrote:but they're the same race....that's the thing.Jops wrote:Wow, very borderline...

Yeah, since in comics non-human characters are really common, their appearance matters more than what they actually are. If you have a robot that looks like a girl, it's in the "Miss" competition even if, technically speaking, a robot is a thing.Mercury Hat wrote:So it's based on how human-like it is, not what the character is? Because I was thinking of entering a character under "thing" because she's very not-human even though she looks totally human.
BWAHAHAHAHA GIVE THAT MAN THE TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS!
Knife. It's timeless, dammit!

as long as the oval head thing is a Male, right? But if they were both female... and if Oval Head thing was not borderline thing, she'd onlt be able to enter ONE of them for the MISS right?Jops wrote:Oh well, let's say that Poppet is so borderline he could possibly be entered for either thing or Mr! Only one character from a single comic can enter a single category... though, concievably, you could have one character of each (Male, Female, and a Thing) category from the same comic right? (if I read and understood thr rules correctly.)
ALSO, I wanted to clarify... because you single out "Non-Human" characters... for the Mr. and Miss. parts.... but what about Fur characters?
If I decided to enter my Ernst character, I would enter him into "Mr." personally, because he is a distiguishable male, humanoid character. Now, I'm not going to bother "bucking the system" here.. nor start an arguement.... despite what people already are thinking that I'm going to... (
Also, my character Nemi can transform into a Rabbit Fur on occasion, but her base/original form is human. What would the rulling on that be?

Yeah, that's correct!fesworks wrote:as long as the oval head thing is a Male, right? But if they were both female... and if Oval Head thing was not borderline thing, she'd onlt be able to enter ONE of them for the MISS right?

Wait, there's a misunderstanding here: I don't rule out non-humans.fesworks wrote:ALSO, I wanted to clarify... because you single out "Non-Human" characters... for the Mr. and Miss. parts.... but what about Fur characters?

I'm just curious to the verdict on that would be. (I promise no argument from me at all... just curious right now, though I can understand if he's a "Thing" category).
Also, my character Nemi can transform into a Rabbit Fur on occasion, but her base/original form is human. What would the ruling on that be?
Daisy Mae, for example, is in for the Miss competition, and she's a fox... point is, she's a humanoid fox with a human-like body. Like i told MH, if you have a girl-looking robot or a boy-looking robot, they'd still be in for Mr and Miss, even if they're actually machine. If the robot looks like a metal box with a led and mechanical arms, then it's a thing.
What matters in this competition is just their appearance. Let's say that "thing" is only for those character that couldn't have an actual sexyness factor for average human standards, like a talking mop, an animal (real animal, not an anthro) or other odd weird-looking creatures.
Furries normally fall for either Miss or Mr, hardly for Thing.
This is the general rule, then, since it's something done just for the sake of fun, i don't really bother of being too strict about them. So, for characters that are so borderline like Poppet may even choose for what category they're in.

Every year we get pickier and pickier. See, since this contest means jack crap and all, we should essentially be able to put in whatever we want. I mean, hell, War either entered or is considering entering other peoples characters, why can't poppet run? Why is there limitations on ANYTHING here?pierce studios wrote:when the hell did this get so complicated? I remember it being simpler in the past years.
THIS IS FOR FUN. JUST DO IT, PEOPLE.

Go back and read the thread carefully! Nobody's being excluded here! and above all: THE RULES ARE THE VERY SAME AS THE PAST YEARS!
Most rules are there just 'cause i don't want my brain to go 'splodey when it comes to sort out the entries and set up the polls. But nobody's being cut out from the competition. The problem with Poppet was just that it wasn't clear if he should go for Mr or Thing. It was finally decided that he could apply for either of the two at mvmarcz's choiche.
Finally... if war entered in 2004 (and won) it was because War was actually the main character in his own comic.

I'm sorry it got so complicated.
I was just confused because unlike all else my characters don't LOOK very humanoid since they are ragdoll people but they DO have genders. If I was thinking about entering a regular Daul there wouldn't have been a question in my mind, but slave Dauls are different.
Blah blah blah
Thanks
Thanks for clearing it up, Jops, I owe you some art
