Mmm anyways. Scripting takes about 30 minutes, at least it's doing so for this story arc. It's all just action.
Drawing a storyboard ala stick figure takes 5 minutes in... Business class. (How I'm passing all my assignments with pergfect scores is beyond me)
Sketching out the people takes about... 1-2 hours. Relining and putting in the gray scale colors takes about 2-3 hours.
At least that's just me. I realized that I can't put in all the details I want, because if I did, then.. well. Those who saw the first version of my comic were right in the sense that it looked good, but it'll be more impressive if I could keep up the details and such. I... couldn't since college turned out to be getting harder (More like I had to stop slacking if I wanna become a screenwriter) I just eventually said, my art isn't gonna get any better if I try too hard, so I'll take it at a casual stride, so that's mostly why my art is sorta short in the time process.
i timed myself last time, to see how long the average comic page took to make. it took about 2hours from birth to death, and the weirdest thing was that "coloring" (grayscale, baby!) took the most time. i figured it would be inking.
also, medieval poetry helps clear the sinuses.
we are born by orbits, molded from spheres, and shaped by lines. there is no such thing as non sequitor. http://horrendousacts.keenspace.com

Actually, I needed a mediaval bard reciting a poetry in latin in my comic.

Who-da-whubah!? 30 hours?!? Yeah I think it was a miss-read. I'd shoot myself if I did one page for 30 hours. Shoot myself with a nail gun, filled with colored nails.
The reason it takes 12 hours, when it shouldn't, for me, is that I have essentially no co-ordination whatsoever. I am horribly painstaking even with the sloppy art I am doing, and had also never before done any kind of art before doing the first page of the comic. If you saw my freehand drawing (as opposed to the stuff I'm doing which is all from photo reference and so on) you would be unable to even recognise it as drawn by a human being. I want to write comics, but I've no artistic ability whatsoever. I had so many artists drop out or take a million years over art though, that I eventually decided first to do one based in reality, so I could just copy photos and learn some drawing skills that way. It takes that long purely due to incompetence...
Also, while in some ways what I'm doing is simillar to Collapse (so I can see why you would ask how it takes so long) I'm not just modifying the photos - I'm redrawing the image using the original photo as a template. An example would be the picture of the Venus De Milo on http://dumbangel.keenspace.com/d/20040922.html . That picture is my own drawing, not a filtered photo (since I'm using 40-odd year old photos of for the most part famous people, i wouldn't consider that ethical). Also, I'm often not just using a single photo, I'll search for multiple sources and combine them. In http://dumbangel.keenspace.com/d/20041003.html for example, the barroom in the first panel was a different photo from the dancing women (and it took quite a lot of effort to merge the photos and get the sizes and perspective something like even before drawing it) while the head of the woman in the large panel down the side was from a different photo than the body (the body was also substantially redrawn so it would match the body of the (different) woman in panel 1).
But mostly it's just my own incompetence that makes it take about 2 hours per panel...
